We don't mind being close buddies with America, but Howard went beyond the Joke with Bush, so much so you were lucky to see his big toe sticking out of Bush's rear end. Anything Bush wanted, Howard was like a little puppy dog, saying " yes master." Plus he was all for the war In Iraq which didn't go down well with most of us here in Aussie. As for Rudd, well he is still being watched and studied as he is only new at the wheel, but time will tell, won't it ?. |

He forgot he was elected by the Australian people not big business or George Bush so they decided remind him by a landslide defeat. |

John Howard was a good PM. He got this country out of the debt to the rest of the world, as Labor left us in after too much spending. He did manage to save our economy, but he lost favour when he went to war in the Middle East, this was his undoing. I will be interested to see how Rudd keeps the economy, as Labor is traditionally a heavy spending party. Then we pay for it in increased interest rates. Labor ran a good campaign with the election and people just wanted a change of government, a mistake in my opinion. I belong to no political party. |

I think the war in Iraq played a part, but what got him out of office was an industrial relations legislation that was introduced last year. Basically it gave more power to business owners and less to employees. It was good in the long run for the economy, but did affect some people badly. Rudd's party jumped on this and from my opinion won the election. |

well clearly his eyebrows were screwed up
the howard government did well with the economy, but in terms of the environment it wasnt doing too well
rudd is doing great; personally my parents didnt vote rudd but he is shaping up to be a really good prime minister
first thing he did was sign the kyoto protocol
he has fulfiled his promises so far |

It is easier to answer "What was right with PM Howard? " to which the answer is "Very little". The best thing he did was lose. |

Howard thought he was a damn Republican. He got us into the war in Iraq. For that alone his name deserves to be reviled.
He imprisoned political asylum seekers. He lied and lied and lied about the children overboard affair when it was already publicly known that the incident was not as originally represented. The SIEV-X affair is still doubtful and cost 353 lives.

After the national capital lost 4 killed and 453 homes and businesses in wildfires blown by 40 knot winds through pine plantations and bushland in January 2003, unaffected citizens rushed to evacuation centres with millions of dollars worth of donations of everything from soap and shaving razors to mattresses and money. Canberra citizens are generally better educated than the average for Australia and would mostly vote Labor. About 40% of the working population are government workers - bureaucrats. This was the scene at evacuation centres that evening. -

Howard, the slimy toad was surprised at the reaction of Canberra citizens. An insult, as far as I'm concerned. To hell with him and I hope soon. |

Lets see, he helped run an unnecessary and illegal war which has killed a million people...
Don't know about you, but that's a serious problem in my books... |

He thought he was John Menzies and wanted to put woman back in the kitchen and Australia back into the 1950's.Menzies was a right wing, commie hater ,royal family backside licker, Australian Prime Minister from the 1940's then the 50's and 60's. The most stupid thing he ever did was sell scrap iron to the japs before the war, then they gave it back in bombs. He was and still is an embarrassment to his countrymen and thought he was more English than Australian.John Howard believed his own Hype, spent like a drunken sailor to stay in Government and now we are all gunna pay for it.Inflationary Tax cut anybody, let the Universities ,hospitals ,roads etc run down.
Need I say more? |

Theyre all politicians, theres nothing good with any of them. Theyre all bound by the same rules.
I preferred Howard, if for no other reason then because he was easier to make a mockery of. |
