I just returned from Australia not too long ago. While Sydney was beautiful (i lived there for 3 months), i thought Melbourne was the most livable city in Australia. However, i don't recommend Melbourne if you're going to be there in winter.

Brisbane close to gold coast great weather big state to explore that's where i am going

When I was in Perth last year there were loads of expats. I could see why. Great beaches, great weather and a nice friendly laid back population. The only drawback is the isolation. Outside of perth you need to drive for mile just to get to the nearest (small) town so I'm not sure if I would choose Western Oz myself. I think I read it was the most isolated major city in the world

I loved Sydney when I was there.

There is no best place. Each person must make up their own mind and live in the place that makes them happiest. For them thats the best place.

sydney...i was born there and my brother still lives there

I live in Canberra and think it is the best place to live. Not to visit, there are few things of interest to tourists. But to live here, we have so many cultural things; art, movies, bands, etc often lots are free. There are never traffic problems. It takes an hour to drive across the whole city. We are the nations capital. Clubs dont have cover charges on Fri nights, no one is ever refused entry and there are many clubs with $2/2.50 drinks before 11. I love it!

Brisbane is said to be the most livable city in Australia.
Not too hot, not too cold, in between the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast and still with great job opportunities.

Cameron in OZ
Sydney is the best place to live. But we have the worlds worst drivers.

Also it does get very hot and humid.

Compared to US cities its nice and slow with friendly people.
Sydney is really just a big country town with 4,000,000 people.

I spent a year travelling australia and could happily live in perth, sydney, melbourne, brisbane or adelaide.

not in brisbane, we have enough damn people moving here.

perth maybe well away from our overcrowded city.
