it's got everything, Indigenous Aussie's, convicts, settlers, farmers, the drought.

That's probably the best songs ABOUT Australia yet I wouldn't say that is the best Australian song that reminds me of home. Waltzing Matilda is an all time favouriteof mine, i don't know why, it just is.
I like Eric Bogle singing Shelter as well that's a goody =)

lol yeah, not Delta. Umm I like the real passion and sadness in 'the band played waltzing matlida' by Eric Bogle, it's about the war.
But I can say with all cetainty that ol Slim Dusty's songs are the epitomy of Aussie, not one in particular but say his name and i think of beer, outback, truck, trains, pubs, floods, droughts, work, Aboriginals, .. ah broke my heart when he died

so that's my opinon on the subject, hope you win the debate =)

is one of my favorites about Australia. It is sorta about Ned Kelly and is really moving .
Best song recorded by an Australian is the more traditional Torres Strait version of ' My Island Home ' sung by Christine Anu and also ' Flame Trees ' by Cold Chisel. Oh yes and Archie Roach's ' Took the children away '
These Three songs are just about the best of Australian music for me
