Perth/Southwest WA: September-November
Beautiful springtime weather warm but not hot and great wildflower displays!

Northern Australia: June-August
Warm but without the stifling heat and humidity-clear blue skies.

South-eastern Australia: September-April
Comfortable weather can rain at any time of year but these months are nice and warm.

Tasmania: December-March
Nice weather at this time of year, generally rather cold otherwise.

The best time of the year would be during the summer months in the Southern hemisphere November-February.
But the cheapest would be when it was winter in Austrailia, or an off-season. Such as no vacations or extended weekends in which people would be traveling.

Depends where you're going.

Queensland - I would avoide November - February, rainy season and as someone pointed out schoolies.

New South Wales - Any time really, depends if you want summer weather or winter. Around April or September would be nice.

Victoria - Again any time, but if you're not a fan of the cold I would stay away at winter. Also Melbourne have all four seasons in one day, its so unpredictable.

Adelaide - Much the same, though together with Perth has a tendency to have heat waves through the summer, so perhaps May would be a nicer time for there.

Perth - As above. For Northern WA see below.

Northern Territory and Inland SA (Alice Springs) - Is hot - boiling hot all year round, even in winter is in the early - mid 30Cs. Summer is the rainy season also. June has the coolest temperatures.

My suggestion, come in April start at NSW then work clockwise around to QLD finishing in June. Or if you want to enjoy summer then come in March and start at QLD, but you wouldnt want to hit outback Australia till May at the earliest.

It depends what you want to see and do. If you want to go to say Margret river for surfing and wine I'd say around early to mid spring.

If you want to see the Pilbara/Kimberly (I live there), May/June. During Nov to Feb temps are regularly over 40-45oC.

If you want to go skiing over east I'd say July. But it does get busy.

If you want to go to the Surfers Paradise Feb/March. It's just after the summer school holidays. DON"T GO IN NOVEMBER!!! It's leavers then and is packed with drunk teenagers.

Northern QLD and Whitsundays Dry season which is around now.

If you want to see tasmania all year round it is beautiful.

Perth (Where I grew up) Summer is best because the beaches are great and a ferry trip to Rottnest is nice. But it's nice most of the time because it doesn't get that cold.

First up it depends where you come from. If you are from a very cold climate (northern Europe, USA and Canada), I would avoid November to February as it is way to hot.

Actually anywhere above Brisbane avoid that time too, wet season and too hot.

Otherwise anytime of year. Mid winter can be rather chilly below Sydney, but aside from a few places, there's no snow so not too bad. Brisbane and north, well it's probably not swimming weather (unless you are from a really cold region), but it's coolish but not freezing...

Spring through summer is usually good, especially if you want to go to the beaches and stuff. If you want to go to theme parks it's also a good time - Spring is September - November and then Summer is December through to February - Usually between November to February it's pretty hot, around the 40 degree mark, not sure what that is in the states. As for the cheapest time, well there is no cheapest time in australia, unless you come in winter when you won't be able to see anything

the cheapest time would be now while our winter is on here
accomodation down south tends to be good budget prices
if you look carefully, i work in the tourism industry in a visitor centre, you need to stop in to your nearest town where you in tend travelling to and get info and brochures from them, they can also direct you the best accomodation to meet your budget

depending on what you are after, I would suggest our winter and go north, to Darwin, nth Qld etc, good temps and dry season. or you could go south to the snowy cold areas. If you want beaches and swimming i'd suggest our summer and anywhere coastal,southern half better for that.

If you are searching for the cheapest time of the year to visit Australia I would advise you to avoid the months of November, December and January. Since then its Christmas and New Year...Peak Festival Season. Otherwise all around the year you would be fine.....depending on where you would be visiting.....

If you plan on travelling to several states, come in Oct/Nov or Mar/Apr. In every state, the weather will be at its best. In Queensland, NT and northern WA, the worst of the heat won't have stared yet or will have finished. In the southern states, the worst of the winter will have finished or not have started yet. The first half of November on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts in Queensland is before schoolies - that happens in the second half of the month and is to be avoided, but before that is great weather and the coasts are at their cheapest. All of the months I've mentioned are out of the peak holiday times (except for the Easter weekend).
