When will Australians stand up and demand that the butchers apron be removed from the national falg?
the unuin jack is the flag of a foriegn country ,,what is it doing on our national flag
It's on the Australian flag because it was a condition placed by Britain in order to permit us to have our own flag, it's still there as a badge of our subservience

Blo0dy never I hope. Stuff the new flag mob, I have no time for them.
Ranjeeh D
As the majority are probably more than happy with it, I hope never.

You do realise that England colonised this country back in the day don't you? Thats why it is there.
We are part of the commonwealth. Thats another reason why it is there.
Now, it doesn't NEED to be there; England has no political power in our government (although we do still have ties) and the commonwealth is basically only good for us to go to the games and kick ***, but by removing it we are rejecting those associations it is giving us. While we may gain our independence as a nation and our own sense of identity also consider what we are losing by removing the union jack from our flag. Some people are sentimental.

LOL! replace with kangaroo pisture instead...

Australians are proud of the flag. Part of the Commonwealth

The sooner, the better.
Ken E. You can go and live in England, seeing you love the Union Jack so much

I think if we ever become a republic we should celebrate by getting rid of the Union Jack and replacing it with an Aboriginal symbol. Then we can ditch the Aboriginal flag too because a unified nation doesn't need two flags.
