Aussie named Joel

When you think of Australia what do you think of???

It is so funny that people think we basically live with the kangaroos, crocks and snakes and we live in tents and the red sand lol, I don’t think I have ever sided to anyone "G’day mate". So what do u think? take a look what Australia really is.

Home is what I think of ..... it really is pretty funny what others assume oz is really like but I guess its no different from what we generalise about other countries. Stereotypes are inevitable.

hahahaha... yeah i basically convinced someone that kids ride kangaroos to school, and koalas are just hanging in the trees in our backyards.

when i think of australia i think of how lucky we are to live in the best country. we have the best of everything, and nothing too extreme.

You make some good points, Joel.
The images you've provided are wonderful.
Makes me proud to be an Australian, as if I wasn't already.

People have to realise we are an extremely diverse country.
We do have large cities, we don't have pet kangaroos and you more than likely won't come across a brown snake or croc in the local shopping centre.

I think many of our nature shows, shown overseas, only serve to convince people we all live in isloation in tents in the bush or outback surrounded by reptiles and spiders.

BUT also there are many of us who don't live by the beach or in the big cities and many of us do say G'day.

when i think of Australia.. i think thats the one place in the world i want to go and i think that people there have cool accents and i think it would be amazing if you actually did say (g'day mate) i think thats HOT!

Chucky
A better future. Hopefully. I'm immigrating there soon. You are stereo typed like we in South Africa. People also think we ride elephants to work and back and that we have no electricity

my home . And what a beautiful place i live in

Dan
Lol, it's funny when other people see us stereotypically as living in the outback with the wildlife but it's normal and I won't call it ignorance. Even I see other countries in other ways personally and realised it's no where near where I thought it was like.

I'm an Aussie and I think of the following lots:

* Food (specially beef and meat pie with tomato sauce)
* Sunshine
* Beaches
* Multiculturalism
* Unique wildlife

Cheers!

shazza
only people over the age of 60 still say G'day mate ,the rest of us watch too much American TV
