Around Brisbane, the best surfing beaches are on the Gold Coast. The surf is not as good on the Sunshine Coast, and it is more dangerous, lots of rips.

For a look at some of our beaches and current conditions, check out these surfcams:

Put a map of Australia on the wall, throw a dart at the east coast and you have a spot, it is like that here. Beautiful beaches coming out of your ears mate. Enjoy.

bondi beach is near 800 kl from gold coast it is in Sydney & you can surf on thr gold coast or sunshine coast (1 hour drive from brisbane) all year around it is winter now here but daytime temps are about 25c 77f so not too cold at all have a good time

4 places:
(a) the sunshine coast
(b) the Gold Coast
(c) Bondi
(d) Roebuck Bay, Broome, Western Oz land

Fuzzy Wuzzy
Bells Beach - Victoria.
Torquay Beach - Victoria.

first of all, bondi beach and victoria are not in the state of qld...
you are best off to go down to the gold coast, two beaches which come to mind are burleigh heads (which im pretty sure has surfing lessons opposite the beach) and currumbin, which my cousin says is an awesome surf beach (and he has surfed all over the world, including hawaii).
when you get here, your best bet is to ask the guys at the hotel to recommend you to someone, thats always best, at least they know what they are talking about eh?
have a great trip down under!!

Sunshine Coast in Queensland from Noosa down to Caloundra or Byron Bay in Northern New South Wales, there are heaps of learn to surf classes held there. Try the Pass or Watego, easy waves to learn and classes held there as well. Its winter but still warm enough to swim and surf

Bondi Beach on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It is winter now, so you have to wait at least 3-4 months before you can surf.
