Mosman and St Ives are usually listed as Sydney's wealthiest suburbs; the richest street in real estate terms is Wolseley Road, Point Piper. The property writer Cindy Martin last year calculated that the total value of the properties lining this 1km section of waterfront was $720 million. The record for most expensive house is $28 million for Altona in Point Piper, which was sold in March this year.
Within Sydney, 32 per cent of the most expensive suburbs were in the east, 22 per cent on the lower North Shore, 16 per cent on the Northern Beaches and 8 per cent on the upper North Shore. The south and inner west had 6 per cent each.

I think the suburbs on the eastern side of the harbour are the most expensive eg Kirribilli, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Vaucluse. Also beachside suburbs near Bondi and Manly, and north shore suburbs around Killara and Pymble are pricey. |

Basically anywhere that provides a good view of the water. So Manly, Bondi, Kirribili, Neutral Bay, Mossman and Darling Harbor are probably the most expensives places to live in, the average prices of the houses ranging from 750K to over $5 million.
