Where in Australia should I take my family on holiday in July and why?

The Blue Mountains has yulefest activities in July... Christmas in July is a great celebration with the Winter Festival in Katoomba (its on June 21st this year) and hotels having great parties with kids activities and Santa. While here take in the scenery with the skyrailway that travels across the Jamison Valley with a glass floor. Jenolan Caves is great place for kids to explore too. Biggest hotel celebrations are at the Carrington, Yorks Peppers Resort, Mountain Heritage (that started the tradition), Lillianfels and Hydro Majestic.

Go to cairns, its a tourist haven, nice beaches, rainforests, there is even a place where the rainforest meats the ocean it is quite spectacular, and becuase it is up north it wont be as cold as down south.

If you want warm go to Darwin, you can't get more Aussie than that and there's heaps to do.

If you want winter wonderland go to Mt Buffalo, they have fantastic skiing lessons for everyone in the family, tobogganing is fun and the Chalet is great for families.

If you're going to Australia in July, i recommend you go to Blue Mountains. It's nice there especially between months of July and September because it's winter there. Kids will definitely enjoy the fun and excitement that Blue Mountains has to offer, especially "Christmas in July"

Do a road trip!! Take them up through Kingaroy, don't miss Stuart Range Winery, then back through to Toowoomba and onto Stanthorpe, best wineries, with space for the kids to roam, great little jam shops at Glen Alpin, Bramble Patch for rockin' icecream and waffles, Mt Sterling Olives, then theres Highlands near Toowoomba with gorgeous places to stop and look, and I highly recommend Crows Nest historical village, the most full on place for history, great stuff to see, you'll be there for ages, very cool for modern kids. You'll go past ancient fuel pumps in the middle of nowhere, we got the best photos of the kids and it was really good to take them on something different, bit of getting back to basics, Stanthorpe is freezing so don't do we did and only work out after 5 hrs that it wasn't the heater not working, it was the fact that the window was open!!

You should go to Darwin, at that time of the year is dry season, its warm and there is no rain for months.
Darwin in very diverse. You can feed crocodiles, go out to some of the national parks are just an drive away, there is a place where you can hand feed fish. I took my 6 year old niece there and she had the best time.

hallo!

for the true cultural experience of the indigenous people you should consider seeing uluru (ayers rock) in the northern territory. i'd suggest finding a tour and staying overnight - the rock changes colours as the sun sets etc and you could take in some traditional dances, see crocodiles, the desert and so on.

cairns/port douglas is a beautiful area of queensland and as someone else mnetioned the rain forest meets the beaches at certain points. there are fantastic 4wd tours through the rainforest with lunch in tree houses and swimming breaks in natural waterholes.. your kids will love that (i know i did when i was little!)

sydney is the big city of the country with the most recognisable landmarks - opera house, harbour bridge (they have a tour where you pay to climb over the bride - fantastic views but a little pricey) and bondi beach.

melbourne is the capital city of victoria and has beautiful old architecture, interesting art and boutiques and cute bars and coffee houses.. as well as one of the most beautiful driving roads in the world - the great ocean road.

perth in western australia is reknowned for it's wine country - the margaret river - but that's a little too grown up, i should think :)

as for the blue mountains.. they're 1.5hrs drive from sydney city. if your kids are into hiking there are some great walks there, but it's really just a day trip thing i think.. you could really catch the train there and back in the one day..

and finally - if in sydney you should definitely take a ferry ride from circular quay in the city to either manly or watsons bay. both have great sea side pubs with good food (manly has more shops and waterslides too)..

July is winter in southern Australia. If you want the best weather you should stick to the top half of the country. The top half of the country is in the dry season in July. (the top half has two seasons, wet and dry) The dry is pleasant, not too hot, but gloriuosly warm (25-30 degrees celcuis) no rain, clear skies and not humid.

Sticking to the North will give you the best of the outback - Alice Springs, Kakudu national park, Darwin, beautiful Broome, long red drives, and the beaches and coastal towns of Queensland. You will want to fly between most points, its a long way. Ayers Rock (Uluru) should be considered.
In general even in Southern Australia the weather is mild so it can still be pleasant - sometimes rain but sometimes sunny and warm. Melbourne for shopping, and wildlife - go to Phillip Island for wild Koalas and penguins. Sydney for the famous sites - bridge, opera house. Brisbane and the Gold coast have loads of attractions for kids, theme parks, wildlife parks, beaches etc, and this area (southern queensland) also has pleasant enough winter weather.

Of course if you are coming from Africa you will also have the oppurtunity to visit Perth as many flights come through there, its pretty and pleasant.

The best place in Australia in July would have to be far North Queensland, eg Cairns and surrounds, or the Top End, Darwin. Great places to visit and lots to see and do in both places.

Melbourne and Sydney are usually the go, but seeing you have the kids i'll suggest you head of to the Gold Coast in south Queensland. Not only is the beach in walking distance, you have the theme parks of Seaworld, Wet'n'wild world, movie world, and dreamworld. And if the kids fall asleep, the Gold Coast is filled with bars & resturants that and is known for the nightlife. If u go to the Gold Coast, just don't go during schoolies week, it gets pretty wild.

Gold Coast/ Surfers Paradise will be d best for your kids and adukts with 3 theme parks.

you should take them somewhere it would be quite but beatiful and has alot of site to go to. because you dont want to go to a crouded place because you wont have fun at all there would be to many people to have fun and you need to have fun with your family.

Cairns for the warm weather if you are from a colder area.

Kids just want the beach and fun parks.Start at the Gold Coast,it's warmer in July than down south and they have all the Fun Parks.If you can go out of school holidays you should get cheap acommadation.I would rent a unit.Try www.ozstays.com.au or similer .Just go to a search engine and put in holiday houses or units and all the sites will come up.I have stayed up there in units with the family many times and heaps cheaper than motels.

Definatly The Gold Coast in Queensland. There are a stack of theme parks there, and your kids will love it.
The weather is good too.
