The Grampians are a beautiful spot. When you get there, steer clear of (or at least, don't stay in) the towns like Halls Gap, but go out along the tourist road a bit further...there are a lot of basic but free and natural campsites right in the national park and they're great! Especially Jimmy's Creek and the Wannon Creek campgrounds. If you need a map to find them, call into the Parks offices in Stawell and Halls Gap...they'll help! (Stawell's worth a look - it was built as a gold mining town like many but the big difference is, it still is a gold mining town - there's an active mine there running and has viewpoints - worth a look! I lived in Stawell for a year and worked at the mine - every day, people came to see it)
Also, if you want to go further west into the Wimmera region, the Little Desert Park and Wyperfeld National Park (up near Nhill/Jeparit) are quite beautiful, there are sandhills for the kids to slide down and its very quiet there as they are often forgotten spots! |

Wilson's Prom and the Grampians are nice, very beautiful and popular places where it's easy to find a camping sites and there are plenty of things to do.
Mallacoota inlet and Croajingolong national park are highly recommended also, especially in Summer.
Eden, Lake Jindabyne, Mt Kosciusko/Kosciusko national park.
If you don't mind a bit of travelling Mt Gambier is also nice, and if you've got kids you could go to the sand dunes at Millicent which are great fun. This is in SA however, but you can drive up if you've got time. |

Down the Ottways ( Great Ocean Road) or along the shipwreck coast ( western coastal vic)
I love camping down Ayre river but its true camping all there is is Long drops and everything else has to be carted in or out.
There is also many other places down around the area to camp both national parks and paid camping grounds |

My family has been camping at both Wilson's Prom and The Grampians, and they were fantastic holidays. Really relaxing. There are walks you can do at the Grampians, and there is a really nice beach at Wilson's Prom. |

It all depends on where you live and how far you want to travel etc. We did a lot of camping as kids with our parents and some of our destinations were: The Grampians, Licola, Lakes Entrance, Wye River, Warrnambool, Jamieson, Mildura, all memorable in so many different ways.
I actually saw a travel program not so long ago that had a spot out west near Hamilton that looked lovely. We still go away camping now and again and head to the Murray river, Corryong, Tallangatta and Mitta Mitta.
It all depends on what you want to do and how far you're prepared to go. |

Walhalla near Moe in Gippsland. They have a really good camping spot, right on a little river (cant remember what its called) but a big river (coopers creek) a few minutes away. It has mines, an old railway, a very very old graveyard with people who died of consumption, walking tracks and isnt too far from Moe which is a large city.
:) good luck! |

I'd second Wilsons Prom. - probably my fave place in ALL of Victoria!
But if you're looking for somewhere warmer how about some coastal camping up at Lorne, Torquay, Rye or even the 90-Mile beach.
Enjoy ... |

I suppose that really depends on what time of the year you are planning this trip.
Wilson's Promontory is great. But I wouldn't want to camp down there in winter. The same goes for Bright or Mount Beauty.
If you are talking about milder weather... I'd suggest the Grampians. There's also plenty to see and do; and don't miss The Pinnacle. The views are fabulous. And don't miss a tour of the Great Western winery; or visit Stawell and get a tour of the old gaol. |

Depends whether you want to stay in a caravan park or not. If you want to go bush and rough it a little, dargo and licola are great. Also the Cathedral Ranges.
Otherwise check out the 'Big 4' caravan parks because they are always pretty decent. |

Seaspray is a great place to go. Beautiful beaches and if you go at the right time, not a soul around you. It might be more bush than you want though. No camping sites with power but a great place to go. |

I know some people who just went to Cobram for a camping trip - not sure if it's the best place but I think they had fun |
