If you are going now and you want good weather then Brisbane is probably your best bet. Adelaide and Tassie are good if you are looking for something that is a little slower paced whereas Melbourne is a pretty good all round destination. Also depends on what your bf likes - if he is into sport you can't beat attending a big match at the MCG in Melbourne

When are you going?

I live in Melbourne, but I wouldn't recomend you come here right now, it's getting cold and miserable.

Go to Brisbane, with a side trip to the Gold Coast.

Have fun, stay safe, and come to Melbourne in Summer.

Melbourne, Adelaide & Tazzy are generally better in the warmer months, so if you're going now, go to Brisbane. It's also not far from the theme parks :)

Depends on what type of holiday you want.
If you going for city life then Melbourne is a good place to go and its much much more bigger than perth and its more happenning than perth expecially nightlife.
If you are going for brisbane then of course you cant miss the GOLD coast, WB...etc.

If you've been in Perth and you like city life, Melbourne is probably the best pick. Also, it is too cold and wet now in Tasmania. If you are going in the warmer months, I would go to Tasmania.

I just went to Melbourne and Tazzy last summer (as in a few months ago) and I'd recommend either.

If you go to Melbourne, and you like scenic views, take the Great Ocean Road. It's beautiful and there are lots of little places where you can get out and play in the water. Also, there's this AWESOME B&B in Geelong called the Pevensey House. It's got a very strongly Moorish influence, the breakfast is marvelous, the place is just gorgeous, and they let you use the fridge downstairs, and they offer free wine whenever you feel like it!

I think Melbourne and Tazzy are both more quiet places, but absolutely beautiful. There's not a lot to Tazmania as far as big-city stuffs go, but Hobart's not bad sized and there are lots of little towns to visit. I recommend the Sky Walk if you go to Tazzy. And there's Port Arthur, if you're interested in historical stuff.

The Lonley Planet Guide has some great info on this sort of stuff. Just go to the nearest Dimmocks or Borders to pick one up or to read and bring a notebook to take notes in.
