Where should I go? Perth or Gold Coast?

If you're trying to decide between Perth and the Gold Coast, you should go to the Sunshine Coast which is 2 hours or so north of the GC. It has everything that Perth has - beautiful uncrowded surf beaches, awesome hinterland and almost everything that the Gold Coast has minus the tackiness, AND is only a short way from the GC if you need a theme park or tourist trap fix.

Dependa what you want from your trip.....I would say Perth because you can really get away from it all. You can go north for heat and solitude or south with the lovely karri forests and capes and turquoise coast lines and oh.... lucky lucky Aussies for living there .... anywhere in OZ.

depends on what sort of holiday youre after. Gold Coast is full of international tourists and is quite tacky, perth is isolated beautiful scenery and wildlife and not as many people.

The theme parks are all on the gold coast so if you have kids go there but if you want to relax id go to perth

Judith of the Never Never
If you are young and want to drink and party, the Gold Coast, if you are more mature and over all that, Perth has the most beautiful scenery and good food etc and nature everywhere. The gold coast can be a bit tacky and full to the brim sometimes with crazy youth after dark that drink too much.

Aussie
I would say perth, why? because I'm from there and it is beautiful here very laid back and lovely gorgeous beaches. We have the most sunshine here in perth than any other part of aus.

We need more info! Why do you want to go? What are you interested in? How long are you there for?

I live in Bris and know the GC very well - it has beautiful beaches and is great if you have kids and want to have some fun at the theme parks. Mind you - if you have been to Disneyland/world then these one's just won't compare! But they are still fun. I wouldn't want to stay there too long though unless you really like the night life. I am not being racist - but the Gold Coast has been taken over by asains. It isn't really what I would call 'Australian'.

I haven't been to perth but I know a lot of people who have been and they say it is lovely. As some of the other answers said - if you want to relax then this is a better place to do it. If you had more time I would probably go there.

chrissy
gold coast. I am in sunshine coast now it is great, gold coast is more touristy

Trisha
Gold coast
it is the best place in Australia after sydney.
