Where should I live in Sydney Australia?

I am going to be a graduate student at the University of Sydney starting in July. Does anyone know which areas of the city I should start to look at for accommodation? Do most students share apartments in on or off campus accommodation? Thanks!!!
Additional Details
Thanks for your answers is Glebe a good choice?

It depends on your budget.

I used to sub-lease my Enmore house to students, it was popular because its slightly cheaper than Newtown/Camperdown & you tend to get more for your $$.

Glebe is another option, with many share leases advertised. Nth Newtown is becoming a bit too expensive for students.

If you choose a place closer to the uni, you can save in public transport costs, which may give you a few more $$ to spend on the actual accomodation.

There is also the option of UniLodge, I am not sure of the cost & I think it is aimed for overseas cashed up students.

Good luck with finding a place, the rental market is a bit difficult to deal with at the moment because there is a shortage of realistically priced properties.

Oh, I forgot.. another option is to have at look at a website called expatriates.com, you may find something thru there. Ive used them while going O/S & also to lease my place.. very good website.

Most students who come from out of the area share accomodation close to the Uni. Some suburbs are cheaper than others, however (for good reason!). I would avoid Redfern & look more at the Ultimo/Pyrmont area. If you don't mind a short train ride you'll get cheaper rooms but it may be harder to find someone to share.
Share accomodation is usually listed in the Sydney Morning Herald which is available online.

Ultimo...Newton Areas are close. I would also recommend taking a look at any of the eastern suburbs as train and bus service is frequent and fairly cheap. Some parts of Redfern are not the best, it would be a good idea if you can take time to look around before you decide.

July is half way through the academic year so much of the available accommodation will have been snapped up by then. Even so, apart from the newspapers and the Student Centre, check the noticeboards in the quad for share accommodation. You have to be quick, though.

Glebe is a good choice. a lot of students live there, it's walking distance from Sydney Uni and the cafes and shopping are very student focused.

Broadway, Newton, Macdonaldtown, Stanmore, Petershame, Lewisham, North Sydney, Milsons Point.. these places are within 10minutes of the City... And all have train stations (except Broadway - which is a short walk from Central Station)

You can look at a few areas.....Camperdown, Burwood, Redfern, Broadway. The campus is pretty nice...you might want to leave your choice till you get here.
