Perth is beautiful, try and get the ferry to Rottnest Island where you can picnic and pat the quokkas.
Fremantle is not too far away and you will see some history there.
Margaret River is beautiful and a must see, there are wineries, cheese and chocolate factories.
Am sure you will have a great time.

Well, tell you the truth that 6 days not enough for perth. Let me get you an idea of that basically can be divided into 5 areas (perth & surrounds, south west region, golden outback, coral coast & Pilbara, north west & Kimberleys) It also depends on what attraction you prefer cause some whould like nature and some perfer city life. Here I provite some basic attractions and hope you will like it.
PERTH & SURROUNDS:
1. Obviously, you can shop arround at the city and also get some information on where to travel by consulting the information service center just next to the city train station. Attraction area are Swan bell tower, mints perth, Scarborough beach & Cottesloe beach if you like water activities.
2. Kings Park & Botanic Garden. Its a 400 hectares of bushland, botanic gardens, walkways and grassy lawns. Its a very nice place where you can have great city views and the river as well. I recommend you to go at night time to photo shoot the city lighting, its very nice and I got 1 myself.
3. Frementle. Its an old port and many heritage buildings and also a maritime musuem to visit. Restaurants are good for fish & chips and local seafood as well. It is adviceble to visit Frementle during weekends where the local markets are open and more street activities commence during weekends.
4. Rottnest Island. If you have extra time, do catch a scenic cruise to the island for bike sight seeing, picnic, sun bathing, wind surfing and also cute quokkas to see.
5. Swan Valley. Do you like wine? Its a wine growing region. There are wine tasting and some provides dining as well. If you plan well and visit during spring season, do drop by at Kalamunda for a water fall & Tulips sight seeing.
6. Yanchep National Park. Situated north from perth. You can have sand skiing at Lancelin where all sand are white colour and you can also choose to ride a 4WD for more advantures and challenges. Dont forget to visit Pinnacles desert (it is a nice view of many many rock formation on the desert itself)
7. Avon Valley. It covers Northam, Toodyay, York and New Norcia. Lots of scenic and buildings or basically more historical area. Try out the local food cause its very unique.
8. Peel & Rockingham area. Great for family relaxation venue. Drop by Mandurah just further down south from Rockingham for fishing and crabbing(just for summer season I guess, depends). Sandy beaches good for picnic and dont forget to try out the food there as well.

I think too much for the information but if you like more details on the South west (Albanny Bunburry, Busselton, Augusta, Margaret river, Pemberton, Denmark..etc) and North (Lancelin, Geraldton, Kalbarri, Monkey mia...etc) and East (Kalgoorlie, Norseman, Hyden, Esperance...etc), I can give you an idea on where to visit cause I been there several times. I had a 2 days crazzy trip to Esperance just for fishing only, went there on Saturday and came back Perth on the next day on Sunday. Cheers and enjoy.

The Pinnacles north of Perth are worth a visit if you like seeing sand and rocks at sunset.

Apparently there are some good vineyards in Margaret River just south of Perth. Worth some wine tasting visits I expect. I only stopped for a meal in a vineyard restaurant, and an ice-cream somewhere around there. Already had done a lot of wine tasting in New Zealand.

Go down to Albany to see some more strange rock formations by the sea.

Also try walking above the trees. This was quite exciting for the novelty factor, but apart from that nothing particularly exciting.

Lots of beaches by Perth, and lots of surfing available. Watch out for the flies, they are a bloody pest! Get a hat with corks on it.

I did not have a campervan there. I borrowed a really old high mileage Ford Escort, and took a tent.

I took the train to Kalgoorlie, on the way to Adelaide. There is not much there, so don't waste your time unless you are going in that direction.

kalbarri is a nice place to visit there is red bluff and a lot of other tourist sites also if you go through kalgoorlie there is the super pit worth looking at and bussellton is anice place to visit i am originally from kalgoorlie. there is also other tourist places around kalgoorlie.boulder worth seeing good luck for your trip i hope you have a good holiday

I did a round trip from Perth to Albany and back up through Margaret River etc and it was good fun, wonderful forests there and small towns that reminded me of 1950s England.

Going North towards and past Monkey Mia you have Hutt River Province ( a state within Australia,), Banana Farms, Shark Bay (saw manta rays and sharks from cliffs above), plus several small places with caravan parks, normally near good scuba diving. Keep going and you will hit Exmouth, superb diving there maybe better than Barrier Reef but 6 days would push it getting there and back to Perth.

You can drive Alice Springs in 6 days from Perth via the Gunbarrel Highway and Warburton Aborignial Community but its mostly bush all the way and a very tough trip.

Your best bet in my mind is to leave Monkey Mia, its not all that great really and go south instead to the forests, its an Australia a lot of people dont see.

Don't be fooled by Monkey Mia, it's literally a beach with a jetty where the dolphins come and that is literally it. It's amazing to see them as you stand in the water and they come right up to you in the shallows though.
It's difficult to say what to do around Perth in six days but I would say Rottnest Island is a must. If you had more time I'd recommend Esperance and the Cape Le Grande national Park. Probably some of the best beaches in the whole of oz that I saw and not many people get there.

Hope this helps!

You have to get a trip in to Rottnest Island - that's a must, also some great vineyards in the region

if your going to go to monkey mia, i suggest stopping at kalbarri on the way. at kalbarri there is red bluff which is really cool, also the natural bridge. and if your heading south there is margret river with its cheese factories, chocolate factories and wineries. also pemberton has some nice things down there like the tree top walk but its a bit of a drive. i suggest stopping and going to fremantle, rotnest, and kings park is great for a view of perth
