Where would be a nice place to move to on the Queensland coast?

My friend and I currently live in Perth, WA but we are sick of the same old thing and decided we would like to move to a coastal town in Queensland. We don't want to go somewhere TOO small because we might be bored out of our brains but not somewhere too big either. Probably somewhere with a population between 10, 000 and 40, 000. Any suggestions?

Bundaberg - it is growing all the time. More than 40 000 but honestly if you want somewhere below 40 000 you are going to be SO bored - no picture theaters even! At least in Bundy its still a nice quiet country town with some things to do. I still know people who get bored there tho! But if I had a choice Id choose Bundy. Lovely beaches. Drive to various nice places for weekend trips. Many other young people there. Can shop there at least!

You just cannot go past the sunshine coast as it has everything and is not as hot as higher up. It isnt quite as commercial as the gold coast and the roads are well kept and easy to travel on.

Mackay is nice . Airlie beach is fabulous. several towns on the Sunshine coast . Townsville is lovely but gets very hot.

I'd chose somewhere close to a major centre for shopping.
In small towns there is a problem with furniture, clothes, cheap food, etc. Or live on the edge of a larger town. Chose a place depending on the environment and lifestyle you want.
Bundaberg is cheap.
Bribie Island is close to Brisbane.
Caloundra is gorgeous.
Townsville is growing rapidly.
Cairns is beautiful and very well serviced.
Personally, I would choose the beaches north of cairns.
