All states in Australia have a price...
i would say the most enjoyable would be Queensland...you have great consistant weather there...
as to how much you want to spend you can find cheaper 2-3star accomadation
to stay 5 star for say 10 nights you will be looking at about $3500
The kids will love it ....they have great amusement parks...wonderful beaches and heaps to see |

ya gotta choice between the Gold Coast, and Port Stephens?
Why? Well, Coffs Harbor has held the mantle way too long, say somewhere like Shoal Bay, a bit of a backwater, but something not necessarily as high brow as the Shoal Bay Country Club, but say, the Santa Catalina, takeaway fish and chips, cycle rides into Nelson Bay, walks up the mountain, and walks on the beach are a must!
If ya go to the Gold Coast, well trodden tourism lots of fun parks Big Brother if you are unreal, then we have a flight centre special from Sydney at the moment with some airline or other staying at a four and a half star apartment for about $385 marked down from $495 a bargain. Buy your own foods to suit in appartments no pretentious or half baked breakfasts at $60 each, what a waste, nice but, too much weight put on eating it all? |

Try Hobart in Tasmania. It is a wonderful place and the least expensive of all the capital cities. It can be a bit grim in winter but in summer it is delightful. Tasmania itself is not a large State and you can see a lot in a week
I know there are people who like the Gold Coast but I don't know why. I live about 90minutes south of the Gold Coast and would not choose to go there, it just happens to be on the way to Brisbane. As far as beaches are concerned, northern NSW or the Sunshine Coast are much better - and more affordable. |

I think Cairns. http://www.welcometocairns.com.au
The kids would just LOVE the lagoon on the esplanade.
Swimming all year around....http://www.cairnsesplanade.com
http://www.cairnsconvention.com.au/Cairns_lagoon_night.htm
Hop out to Green Island for a day trip on the reef - http://www.cairnsconvention.com.au/reef_image.htm http://www.greatadventures.com.au
There's also a great playground and new skateboard park / ramp thing. A mini zoo on top of the casino, even a croc! http://www.cairnsdome.com.au
Cable Skiing Water Park is new to Cairns -
http://www.cableskicairns.com.au (right next door to Aboriginal Culture Park and the Skyrail http://www.skyrail.com.au)
I also love going to http://www.tangalooma.com/ - 50 mins boat ride from Brisbane. Plenty to do for a week on this island. Feeding wild dolphins at night is a bonus http://www.tangalooma.com/dolphins/dolphin_feeding.asp ... huge sand dunes, heaps of places to swim and alot of other activities. They have a wide range (price) of accommodation.
Type in google, 'accommodation on Morton Island'.
Have a fun trip whatever you decide. |

Try Suffolk Inlet in NSW, rent a holiday house for very reasonable amount. Most of the homes there seem to be available. Quiet family vacations with beach, hiking, and fishing. Take a bicycle with you. enjoy! |

In the off season it would be Gold Coast- its probably the most popular place to go, you have the theme parks and beaches and stuff. During the high season in summer it would get a bit more expensive.
It would depend what sort of stuff you wanted to do though, if you and the kids like more nature orientated stuff, like bush walking & camping sorta things than Tasmania would be a great place. |
