Which City in Australia should I move to that doesn't have too hot weather?

If you don't like the heat, look at Hobart in Tasmania.

I have to agree with the rest of the answers, I live in Perth, Western Australia and the last few weeks have been disgustingly hot. I have visited all states of Australia, ( and loved them all) but Melbourne is the easiest to live in as regards the weather. Its also a very interesting place to live, regardless of weather, so much to do there. Good luck.

Both Melbourne and Sydney are nice places to live. I am from Melbourne - so being a bit bias i say come move to Melbourne.
You get use to the heat and humitiy quiet quickly and you will soon be referred to as the "wingey pommy"
Melbourne is a little less fast pace as Melbourne, with a little more sophsication. There is a lot to do in Melbourne, and it's really easier to drive on our roads, it's a grid system (very easy!)
We have wonderful restaurants and the housing prices are a little cheaper than Sydney. It still does get hot and humid, but don't worry because if it is hot in Melbourne one day, it will be cold and wet the next day!
Come visit Melbourne and Sydney then make up your mind.

Melbourne rarely gets humid, Synney often does. Both are a bit like an English spring in winter here.
melbourne was well planned before it was built and is easy to get around. Sydney grew as needs must and has a few commuting problems now. I was born in England and I live near Melbourne by choice.

do yourself a favour study up on perth,western australia. it is brillant and very pommi-ised. HEAPS of english people.
it also only has about 1 million people its a city but you still get 'good morning' and greeted like a country town.
and most housing is near the beach/along the coast.

Melbourne!!! Wellll... where should I start?
1. First of all... some people do not like the weather in Melbourne (you can have 4 seasons in one day). However, if you read the first article from The Age newspaper, you will find out that the weather is still more preferable than the other cities. Sure you can have 42C day in summer, but almost immediately you'll get a much cooler weather pretty soon afterwards. It is very rarely that you got 2 or 3 consecutive days of hot weathers (unlike Sydney, Brisbane or Perth).
2. Melbourne is a city of diversity. If you are a newcomer, and you do not look 'Anglo-Saxon', you do not feel like an 'alien', since you can find almost every race in the world walking in the city. They are both immigrants and overseas students.
3. THE FOOD!! Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Thai, All-you-can-eat, African, Lebanese, Mexican, Sea Food... anything else? All available and lots of them in a very-very-very affordable price
4. Pretty good public transport system. With one ticket, you can switch from train, tram and bus. They do not always come on-time, but still reliable and improving (www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au).
5. SHOPPING!!! Original branded clothing sold very cheap. There are even shopping tour, where the participants are taken to retails outlets just for shopping. Big temptations for ladies.
6. Crime rates... just read the second article on the bottom.
7. Cost of Living... I'll say it's second most expensive city after Sydney. Altho I have to say that some cities in Queensland can be more expensive to live.
8. Night Life... hmmmm... I'll say the centre of nite activities will be Crown Casino and Docklands. Altho there are still plenty of cafe's and clubs scattered around the suburbs as well.
9. Tourist attraction. This is the area that I think Sydney is better than Melbourne, since it has most of it's attraction within its suburbs. Most Melbourne attraction are pretty much out of Melbourne, such as the gold mines in the cities of Bendigo and Ballarat, The Great Ocean Road, Lakes Entrance, Grampians, skiing in Mt. Buller etc.

Living closer to the beach will be the suburbs of Altona, Port Melbourne, Williamstown, St. Kilda, Elwood and Brighton to mention some that are pretty close to CBD. You can cross reference with some real-estate websites to know the rental costs (www.realestate.com.au or www.domain.com.au).

Running out of ideas, but I hope that I can at least give you some more informations that have been provided by the answerers before me.

melbourne is cooler than all other states and territories bar tasmania - sydney is not too bad either but melbourne would be better - i live in Townsville North Queensland which is disgustingly hot and humid - i have lived in sydney for 2 years - in the summer it gets hot but nothing compared to here - i have lived in adlaide for 11 years and that is a lovely even climate - not too hot in the summer - but they dont get much rain - and melbourne is said that you experience all four seasons in 1 day! it snows in parts of melboune and nsw - and if you live in a house with air conditioning it won't effect u too much

Not sure what drugs the rest of the posters are on, but it is currently 25 degrees here in melbourne and quite humid. Extremely so for March. Not so that it is uncomfortable

Unlike the UK, most homes here have aircon which relieves most of it anyway, so you only notice it when you are actually outside.

Winters here arent that cold, and for the last 2 years it hasnt rained much either. Perfect place to live if you ask me

Melbourne is your best bet.

Its not that hot in summer, and has real winters. You can even ski not too far away.

It has great culture and far better food (esp eating out) than you will find anywhere in the UK.

Yeah - Hobart or Launceston in Tasmania is great but if you prefer the busy city life then Melbourne would be better. BTW Melbourne is very close to Tassie.

You should live in Darwin it is the LEAST hot and humid of any city :)
