The purest whitest sand with the clearest bluest water. Even on the beaches in town, you feel like you're a million miles away...

We like to go to Arakoon state conservation area. It is Located about 20mins north of Kempsey on the NSW North Coast. It is also known as Trial Bay, which is part of South West Rocks. They have powered and non pwered camp sites. they amenities are very clean, just take your 20cent pieces for the shower (about $1 gets a good hot shower) Its right on the beach and beautifull. They have Kangaroos, birds, fishing and a great beach for the kids. There is a old gaol to explore a great licenced kiosk with great seafood.

we live on the gold coast there are plenty of safe beaches for your young children.
Mackay and Cairns are all great they have the stinger issues in the water,if its beauty and not so much beach swimming then from Mackay to Port Douglas is great we were there last oct its certainly breathtaking. (we used the pools) no beach swimming.

K Bear is right , the local council have done a lot of work around the Esplanade area of Cairns and it's a great spot for families. You could also take a short drive up to Port Douglas and try 4 mile beach

For the kids I'd choose Golden Beach at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

It's not a surf beach, Golden Beach is at the far northern end of Pumicestone Passage. It's very safe for children but there are plenty of surf beaches nearby.

i live in queensland and these are the best places

sunshine coast is more family friendly nice gentle waves and not so many parties

gold coast has heaps of parties at night and there r more ppl there but the waves are better

great barrier reef its not technically a beach but its very sunny and there are beaches in cairns and the reefs are absolutely fabulous

Caloundra is nice - so is Rainbow Beach, (also the gateway to Fraser Island)
Personally I love Cairns ... Trinity Beach and Palm Cove here is amazing. Also a short trip out from the Cairns marina to Green Island is great. Snorkeling off the island or lazing around on the island.

Cairns also has an amazing Lagoon on the esplanade.

have you had a look at port Stephens around nelson bay there are some really nice beaches and some that don't have big waves which is perfect for the little ones and there are bigger beaches for the older kids but they are all great.

Mike ! It will depend on the weather and don't spoilt your trip with the kids. Check it out first. However, there are many hotels at gold coast along the beach.

I found the East coast beaches others have mentioned to be a bit off for one reason or another, but the West coast beaches like Esperance, or Margaret River, or Cable Beach at Broome really nice. I particularly liked Cable Beach for the warmth and huge size, Esperance for the beauty, and south coast beaches like the Coorong or Victorian ocean coasts for the cool climate beaches.

Hey come to Albany WA we have some of the most beautiful beaches and great for families, check it out on the internet and if you dont think much of it theres always the Ningaloo Reef further up North near Point Sampson, and wherever you end up you have a great holiday :)

i am from sydney.we have lots of great beaches here.but i always prefer swimming up in the gold coast beaches just for the fact that the water is so much warmer..now if you like your water slightly on the colder side there is alot of beaches to choose from all along the coast.

Bondi Beach, Sydney. Its quite touristy but i liked it a lot. Make sure you go during Australia's summer though, it will only be 60 so degrees F in the winter. =[

Sorrento key/ hillarys boat harbour in perth Western Australia

It has beautiful white sand, shops,resteraunts and often there's a fair, there's a wacky putt golf course, 4 water slides and Aqua Underwater world which is apparently the best aquarium in the southern hemisphere, theres even a touch pool where you can feel the stingrays and a tunnel you can walk through and see the sharks swim above you) Its seperated into 2 main sections Hillarys which is wave free because of the jetty so its great if you have young kids and Sorento key which is wide open. Iv'e never seen any jelly fish either.

Another vote for the Sunshine Coast. My Grandparents live there so I have virtually grown up there. Kings Beach and Golden Beach at Caloundra are great for families and are safe and relaxed. About 20mins further up the coast is Maroochydore and Mooloolaba and they are great too with a bit more night life. All of the above are within an hour and a half of Brisbane and within half hour or so of Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter) which is definitely worth a visit.

I'd choose any beach in Coffs Harbour, in New South Wales - we have the most fabulous beaches in Australia and the best weather. So come to beautiful Coffs for a fabulous, kid-friendly holiday. We have some really good places to stay at too and we have the "Big Banana".

The Goldcoast has it all for children from theme parks to the best beaches . Broadbeach [Kurrawa] is over the road from Pacific Fair, one of the big shopping centres. Going south towards Coolangatta is getting further away from the theme parks but Burleigh beach is very nice. Surfers can get a bit rough and busy in the evenings with the night club scene but still a superb beach .A Day trip up into the Hinterland is wonderful if you would like to do some walking in the National parks

When I went my favorite beach was Bondi beach. I went in July so it was pretty cold and there was a drizzly but even so I had fun walking through the few shops they had with some friends and some of the girls with me did go swimming and said it wasn't bad. Since it was drizzly there wasn't a big crowd but the beach is definitely recommended.

McMasters in NSW. Great for the family, and a perfect spot on the NSW coast.

Close to heaps of towns and great spots too!
