Which city's better to settle in ? Sydney or Melbourne ?

Hi all ! I might be moving to Australia in another year or so. Wanted feedback on which of the cities are better both from a career perspective and a quality of life perspective. Thanks in advance!

Sydney is a rat race. Melbourne is much better to live in. As a matter of fact come visit me...

Wills
Sydney for better career opportunities. Melbourne for better quality of life.

the career opportunities are better in sydney, but melbourne is definetly not far behind
though the quality of life is far better in melbourne
like some would say sydney is more exciting, but sydney's also filled with alot of trouble and is super busy
melbourne's also got gret nightlife, has heaps to do and has great food, we have more events, better shopping.
ALot of my relatives have lived in both for work and stuff and all have chosen melbourne over sydney

but it really depends on what you're looking for
like a young 'party girl' kinda person who doesnt mind the rush should probably choose sydney
liike alot of people say sydney's great, just not to 'live' in

Quality of life is great in both, but at the moment career prospects are zilch. There are new restrictions on immigration, so the easiest way to get in is on a leaky fishing boat coming from Indonesia.

About2mo, this is a bit unfair, I like both places, I have friends down there in Melbourne, and also in Sydney....ooops sorry "mates". I do admit there is a bit of a climate difference between the two, but after this summer from what I have been reading I wouldn't think so.

About2mov I do lean a little towards Sydney, than Melbourne, but you haven't stated what profession or trade your in.

I think you'd enjoy either, but foreigners, especially British foreigners always enjoy Syd more if you are into networking, partying, sunshine, beach. Whereas Melb has worse weather and more British stlye beaches, but is more sophisticated and has heaps of bars and night life options,

as a foreigner you might have more fun in sydney, lots of other travellers and i think the city wouldnt dwindle down as early as in melb. im from melbourne but id say sydney and come and visit melbourne cos it really has nice city and beaches too
