Which is better to travel to Sydney by..bus or train? I live in Melbourne.?

?
I have done a return trip, Sydney to Melbourne by bus and it is a long way to be stuck in a bus seat.
I would recommend the train as then you can get up and move around.

i would rather go by train any time...especially on such a long route

flying is cheaper and faster you can get tickets for as low as $60 with virgin blue and jet star

I just took the train from Melbourne to Sydney. It was a long day (12 hours) and the scenery wasn't that riveting (I had romantic but erroneous notions of seeing kangaroos hopping by in the distance, but evidently they're crepuscular, like deer) although greener than I expected, thanks to the time of year. The food on offer was so-so but as someone else pointed out, at least you can get up and move around, so given these two options, I'd go with the train. Make sure you get a window seat, though.
If I had it to do over again, I would fly.

If you're not afraid of flying, take a plane. If you have to go by land for other reasons and can't fly, then go by train. You have more room to move around on a train and can get up and take a wander without disturbing people. Plus it's smoother and smells much better.

Trains take longer but coffee is all ways available. Bus is quicker but manages to find every pot hole in road. I will all ways take the train. There are just too many pot holes for me

Depends on when you are going. For those who said by air is cheaper, it is if there isnt a long weekend or a Friday.
Check on Webjet.com.au
And Jetstar and Virgin aren't always the cheaper by the way.
With Jetstar, if you are in the eastern suburbs it costs more to get to the airport. Sometimes Qantas can be cheaper.
I am driving up to Sydney, because it is cheaper than flying. It is a long weekend and the airfares (return) would cos us (for the two of us) over $400.

If your only option is bus or train, I would opt for train. You can move around then and stretch your legs.
