Hey there.
I moved to Australia from New Zealand when I was young.
I have lived in Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Chinchilla (a small country town).
I can honestly say, without a doubt, that you should live on the Gold Coast!
I think it's one of the best cities in the world that you can possibly live in. I have not met ONE person here who hates this place. No joke!
The Gold Coast is located in south east Queensland (Queensland, or QLD, is a state) and has around 500 000 people. It's around 40mins-1hour drive south of Brisbane (the QLD capital).
Brisbane has a population of around 2 million people.
The people here are generally incredibly friendly! They say hello to you on the street, even if you don't know them!
The neighbours in our area are really nice and they look after our house when we go away to make sure no one breaks in and stuff. They're really really nice.
This city is like a tropical paradise. It's sunny most of the year and really warm!
The beaches here are to die for. The beaches strectch right up the city and high rised buildings are built right on the water!
I guess the Gold Coast is a bit like Miami or Honalulu, just cleaner, not as busy and friendlier.
Here's some pictures of our amazing city.

It's a really beautiful place to live.
As you can see, there are mountains in the background to our city. These are called the Hinterland and it's a great place to go and chill out.
It's really pretty up there (Kind of like New Zealand if you have ever seen there).
There's lots of water falls and that up there and it's only about 30 mins drive from the beach and all the buildings!
We also have 4 world renowned amusement parks.
Dreamworld, Wet 'n' wild, Movie World and Sea World. All are fantastic places to visit and even the locals, such as myself, do not get sick of them!
I went to wet and wild on Tuesday and had a great old time. It's a water theme park with lots of really fun rides. They have things called dive in movies where you sit in a massive pool on tubes and watch a big screen (kind of like a drive in but on water)>

There's the link for wet and wild if you are interested.
Your siblings would love the theme parks! And yes, they would have a fantastic childhood here. The schools here are exellent.
I go to a Christian school called Emmanuel College and it is the best school I have ever been to.

This is a great place to bring up a family. I find our city has a really low crime rate (although we do have our times).
There are heaps of shopping centres, movies, restaurants, cafes and things to do!
http://www.pacificfair.com.au/
That's a massive shopping centre we have here called Pacific Fair.
In Surfers Paradise (kind of like the Gold Coast's CBD), there is this really cool place called Infinity.
http://www.infinitygc.com.au/
It's like a virtual maze, it's so much fun!
There are so many things to do in this city, it's not funny and the good thing about living on the Gold Coast is that you are only 40 minutes drive away from the hustle and bustle of Brisbane.
The Gold Coast can be busy at times, but we don't really have many traffic problems.
In regaurds to your parents jobs, they will be certain to find jobs! I think there are about 40 000 New Zealanders living on the Gold Coast (including me!) and most have come over for the amount of jobs that are on offer here! You will have no troubles finding a job here, as will your parents so don't worry about that.
The houses on the Gold Coast are so much cheaper than they are in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. They are also in exellent state, and many of them are huge!
The Gold Coast, and the whole of Australia, is a very multi-cultural place so yes you will fit in for sure!
At my school we have about half of the population born overseas! No fights at our school, everyone just accepts each other for who they are and are always happy! We have a few americans in our year actually :)
Other places you may wish to live are Sydney, Melboure or Brisbane.
However, I find Sydney and Melboure too busy and dirty and I find Brisbane a bit on the boring side, but that's all just a matter of opinion.
The only cons I can think of about living in Australia are:
1. Like the rest of the world, our economy is not doing too well (but much better than the US!).
2. We are in a bit of a drought at the moment so don't have too long showers!
3. You can't really walk into long grass because of snakes and spiders.
4. The treatment of Aboriginals in this country is disgusting!
But other than that, our coutnry is great!
Thanks for the question and make sure you show your parents the information I have given you! Seriously consider this city.
Email me is you have any further questions.
Thanks again :)
Edit: I agree with the poster below me. Queensland is your best bet. |

hi my name is Jonathan Pertile this is actually my mum's email so don't email her please!
i can tell you i was born here and born in melbourne but i have also been to all of australia's states for holiday.
here is an insight
the top three places are Queensland Melbourne and Sydney just to speed this up.
3rd would be Sydney, the positives are how much you can do if you are in the city, the problem over there is the damn traffic basically stopped half of our holiday but to be honest really for teens not for families!
2nd would be Queensland because of everything nice people very good beaches both suits teens and families and overall probaly the best state in the world to go for holiday!
But the best state to live in at the moment! is melbourne because of it's multi culture although i don't want to be rude but it does get annoying some times when you go in a petrol station or something and you find a indian person at the counter who barely speaks the language, i know people in melbourne think this is a plus but it's not.
Family wise it is the best state to live, Teen wise too. but the problem now is the population which causes road things like crashes and melbourne's kindness and easy going nature is half gone because of jobs and how serious it is. We do have the best government in the world not sure what the person who said that we have a stupid government in Kevin Rudd he is the best we have ever had. i swear though in the long term melbourne will not be the best place to live because of multi culture and population! there are more chinese people than aussies in melbourne everytime i look everywhere i see chinese people!
But in the longterm in 10 to 15 years Queensland will be the best by far, my vote would be Queensland long term, Melbourne Short Term.
Hope that helped |

Based on all of your requirements, honestly, I think South East Queensland is the go. Either the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sunshine Coast. Its the fastest growing region of Australia, and the government has geared its policies towards growth. There are plenty of jobs available, and its a very culturally rich place. |
|

QLD RULES
 |
South East Qld it has all you need and its very underrated its like a hidden gem that hasn't being discovered well you know what I mean.
The winner is SE Queensland.

hi i'm from sydney, australia
australia is awesome you and your sibling will definately fit in.
there are people from all over the world living in australia, so much multiculturalism, it's great :)
i would say the best place to live is in sydney (a bit bias)
the western suburbs of syndey is really good to live, a few mintues away from the city, and really to access to services like schools, hospitals etc. everthing a family needs..
i hope this helped ..
you'll love australia :) |

Hi,
I live in Australia (Victoria) and it's Awesome! I love everyone here and theirs heaps of jobs especially in the city, don't think that Victoria is busy (a lot of people thinks it's busy coz of the city) But it's not if you move further out of the city.
Hope I helped! |

ABOVE US ONLY SKY

Melbourne is quite consistently assessed as the most livable city in the world. I've lived here for 4 years, lived all around the world and I'd have to agree. When they make the assessment they look at employment, crime, average income, cost of living, environment....lots of other things. Definitely Melbourne all the way.
And of course you'd fit in. Aussies are friendly ppl, nothing to worry bout
Also should ad that I read a article in the paper recently that said 80% of Aust economy is stimulated by Melb (not an economist cant remember the exact wording) Australia is suffering from skill shortage so employment is a breeze. |
