All the beaches suburbs are safe with good schools, although the far southern beaches have a higher crime rate. Any beach from Henley Beach down to Brighton is a really nice area. You might like to consider the area along Linear Park around Lockleys. It all depends on your budget.

See www.realestate.com.au or www.domain.com.au

Glenelg (east, north or south), Brighton or Somerton are all along the beach and are beautiful suburbs.
I've lived in Glenelg all my life and my home has never been broken into, but then it's different for everyone. Based on my experiences I find Glenelg safe.
There are also some great schools, both private and public, in those suburbs and near by.

I live in Adelaide and I would like to live near the beach but it is incredible expensive. So I have to put up with the outer suburbs where it is cheaper.

I live in Adelaide, Tusmore. It isnt near a beach but is close to good schools and great shopping centres. Another good (affordable) place is Golden Grove. I love it there.

Semaphore is probably the best community beach with good schools etc. Otherwise if you like shopping and lots of icecream shops there is Glenelg. Both are really good. Christie's beach is quieter and more reserved but still has good schools.

I personally recommend Golden Grove (not near beach).

Nowhere is safe, we cant promise you that! The beaches are all beautiful, whats a good school? "Private"? they have major problems as well, so define "Good School" go visit some and if you think they a "Good" go there, dont take our advice decide for yourself. Same with your "Best Suburb" choice, you decide, dont ask us, everyone has there own opinion, does the Best Suburb have the richest people? not always, but if this is your line of thinking just check out the Real Estate Guide and choose the most expensive suburb, then you should be "Safe".

Imagine
One thats near a fire station and a safe escape route !!

** and keep an eye on your kids.**
Adelaide has a weird child crime history !!
