Try Great Kepple Island. The closest town, Yeppoon, is a nice small size community (about 10000 people) and kepple is very quiet. Its about 12km from Rosslyn Bay harbour, just south of Yeppoon, and a return transfer on boat is $60 per person. If you have your own boat I suggest taking that and loading up some snorkling and fishing gear. While on kepple there is a number of sandy and secluded beaches to experiance, you can indulge in snorkling around the island on charter, jetski tour, a lunch trip with boom netting around the island or lay on the beach and sosk up the rays. The sky is always blue, the water crystal clear and the days fantastic. Apart from kepple you have a number of neighbouring islands, including north kepple and humpy, which are national park and have established camping facilities. Transfer's to these can also be arranged.
Look kepple is great, its not overly crowded, there is one bar is only two bars, one ajoining a pool at the resport and another right on the beach front. You can fish, snorkle, relax, go adventuring, extreme sports (sky diving, parasailing, wakeboard etc).
Have a good look at the website and check out some of the stuff on offer in yeppoon and emu park aswell. Make sure to look up some of the neighbouring island (north kepple, humpy, barron, man and wife) and if you can get a 4x4 a trip to 5 rocks would be well worth it too (try googling 5 rocks, stockyard point and associate national parks)

Dunk Island, north of Townsville, south of Cairns, is a great place to soak up some rays and is fairly reasonably priced. Hinchinbrook Island, nearby, has a tiny resort at the very northern tip where the maximum number of guests is forty. There are plenty of nice tropical beaches nearby which you'll just about have to yourself. |

Heron Island off the coast of Gladstone. Can go by helicopter or boat. Very small, romantic island. Lots to do if you like nature, or do nothing, just spend time together. |

If you want romantic you can always try Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort, my sister used to work there and its pretty nice, you have to catch a ferry from pinkenba (across the gateway) and from there its about an hour boat ride away. You can feed the wild dolphins at night time, they do whale watching tours at certain times of the year, you can go scuba diving around the reef, or you can hang out by the pool. Also some celebrities do go there as well (the contender was filmed there) and just a warning in advance, alcohol is reasonably expensive there so if you do want to take any put it in your suitcase along with your clothes but make sure that it is wrapped securlely (what they cant see won't hurt them lol)
Edit : Also I've added a list of activites you can do while your there as well

I also vote for Tangalooma on Moreton island. Hire a jeep and do some serious offroading to amazing little secluded coves etc. Best place to get over long haul flights. Been there twice and intend to go again later this year - walking along the beach at 5.30am with no one around except a few pelicans - magical. Hubby went solo sailing on his 40th and was given spectacular show by a couple of local dolphins. Definetly ticked a few boxes for thing to do before you die!! |

Hayman Island is where I went for my honeymoon. There is nothing the staff there won't do for you... I liked it because it wasn't too busy... it isn't really a family island either so it is very relaxing and romantic. I loved it. |

If money is no object then Lizard Island and Bedarra would be first then the resort on Hinchinbrook island or Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island.
Any of the Whitsunday Islands including Hayman, hamilton and South Molle are all great. |

Fraser Island is beautiful...
Stay at the resort on the south side and watch the Sunset rise every night - beautiful. Gorgeous places to visit via tour or do it yourself. Dont just see the beach but see the beautiful sites like Lake Mackenzie/the beautiful blue lake - do some whale watching which is amazing! Gorgeous place if you dont just stay on the beach! But the beach is nice to! |
