Which offers the best all round living conditions, New Zealand or Australia?

As single parent with one teenage son we want to make the big move in a couple of years, but cant decide between the two. As the cost of visas, medicals etc is so high I need to be sure I'm making the correct choice. Im a dual trained Nurse so I do not forsee any employment problems.
Additional Details
Dual Trained, Mental Nursing (RMN) and General Nursing (RGN)

Much as we desperately need nurses in New Zealand, I would say Australia. There are nearly 40,000 NZers moving to Australia every year for the better conditions and many of these are in the medical field so that tells it all. There is not less crime per capita in NZ - in fact it is higher here.
The weather in NZ might suit you better if you are from UK because it is more temperate in NZ but that can depend on which state you choose in Australia.
There will be more opportunities for your son in Australia as well.

If you're a nurse, you'll have a much easier time finding work in Australia than New Zealand. New Zealand is a small country. Your opportunities will be limited. Australia is huge. If you can't find work in Sydney, you'll still have a handful of big cities to choose from. Regardless of what other people says, I've lived in both countries, and they are both safe. New Zealand is a bit quieter and cleaner, but Oz isn't bad either.

New Zealand without a doubt

For somone in your situation, i would recomment New Zealand. It's not as big as Australia and there is less crime, less trouble for you teenage kid to get into and there are a lot of outoors activites to keep him busy.

Australia! Definitely!!! The beaches are awesome, the people are heaps friendly, there is hardly any crime, education is great, unemployment rate is tiny, Adelaide was just voted 5th most livable city in the world woo, there is a need of nurses, it's heaps clean, people will look after you etc etc... Australia all the way!! And the weather is heaps better too! And there are so many different places to see over here!

Perth city in western australia is a great place to live

^^^^ lots of things you probably would like to know.

Australia has better living conditions, less crime, better work choices and better pay. I am a registered nurse and registered midwife, we need nurses, but what is a dual trained nurse.

I've lived in both countries and find them equal to be honest.
Australia has more opportunities obviously as it's bigger.
eg - there is more $ and bonuses if working out in the rural-remote aboriginal communities.

Then of course you could always work for the Royal Flying Doctors service! An aeromedical health service for those who live, work or travel in outback and regional Australia.
http://www.flyingdoctor.net - they have a link to Nursing vacancies online.
More info http://www.flyingdoctor.org.au

I take it you are in the UK - there is EXPO's coming up very soon there. Being a nurse they are there to offer jobs and may even help pay your way. Immigration is there to answer all your questions also.

See http://www.expo-newzealand.com and http://www.expo-australia.com
Nurses are very much in demand both NZ and Australia.

Good Luck !

Australia has less crime, New Zealand has levels greater than ours in the UK.
