Which part of Australia has the nicest climate? |
I would imagine that a "nice climate" would be described by most as quite dry, lots of sunshine, and temperatures which keep within a range of 10 to 30 degrees Celsius degrees.
It is a possible longterm perspective for me to live in Australia, and I wonder where the climate would be like that in Oz.
My current guess is anything south of Perth, and possibly the Blue Mountains, but I really wouldn't know.
Can someone set me straight on this?
Thanks. |

I was thinking the Tropic of Capricorn would have the most stable weather pattern....
Rockhampton Area:-
Typical daytime temperature ranges are 32 max 22 min in the summer /wet season and 23 max 9 min in the winter/dry season. |

Perth and Sydney would we where I would look. Not the Blue Mountains though, they are quite cool especially in winter it's freezing.
Sydneys average temperatures - http://www.sydney.com.au/weather.htm
Perths average temperatures - http://www.discoverperth.com/perth/weather.html
As you may see, Perth average a hotter summer and are more prone to heat waves, so a week of 40+ temperatures isn't too uncommon. However, Sydney has more humid weather, right now it's lovely but you ccan feel quite sticky when its hot.
Weather wise alone, I think they are both an excellent choice. Melbourne is also nice but gets colder in winter and its weather is very unpredictable. Anything north in Queensland gets a lot hotter and don't have four seasons only wet and dry and summer is quite wet, torrential rains, winds and mini cyclones are common. The rest of Australia has the regular 4 seasons.
If you don't want to live in the city both Perth and Sydney have beautiful regional towns nearby. In NSW you have Wollongong city 1.5 hours south on the coast and in Perth you have a few towns but they are smaller.
Now you need to look at what suits your career, family life, etc. |

Brisbane! We do have the Summer days that are over 30degrees and get the arvo storms those days, but if you don't like the cold we have nice temperatures in Winter. We are in the 'Sunshine State' and as for mostly dry - we are in a drought |

You are right, south of Perth is about right for you. Down Bunbury or maybe Albany area, but Albany can get a little cold in winter but summers are great. Good luck. |

Well, I live on the north-west coast of Tasmania and it doesn't get much below 10c [only sometimes in the middle of winter but we've never had 0c as far as I know] and it is a very pleasant 24-25 in summer [can get warmer though]. Really depends on what you are looking for, like do you want to get a job or will you be retired etc. I think anywhere on the coast of Oz is great, except for north, as I hate the heat and humidity. Went to Queensland once for a week and it nearly killed me. Perth is extremely hot in summer [spent one summer there once]. Melbourne can get quite hot too but also fairly cool in winter [spent 1 year there]. Sydney is pretty warm in summer but also humid and winters there are very mild [spent 33 years there]. Think I'm in the best place now. |

I grew up in the South West of Western Australia, about 3 hours south of Perth. And you are right. The weather there is perfect! My parents still live there and often when it is raining everywhere else, where they are is completely not!! It does still get a fair bit of rain, being the area was primarily a dairy farming area, and is now pretty much vineyards! It can be quite pricey to buy and rent down that way, but I suspect the way the housing market is going, there may be more places going on the market cheaper than before. That area also has some of the best beaches going around. The best bit about that area is that you do seem to not be exposed to extreme weather conditions. And the good old Aussie bushfire is rare as well. They don't get many storms. Definitely no cyclones. Doesn't get too hot or too cold. Basically, I could go on for days about the South West of WA!!!!
I have also been to the Blue Mountains a few times when i lived in Sydney. I loved there as well though it can get mighty mighty cold!!! But it is truly a spectacular place to go. And you are close to a big city. |

Somewhere around Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast area, in Queensland, would probably suit you. |
