For less than $200 per week in the CBD your best option is to buy a tent and camp in the botanical gardens. The $200 will pay the fine for trespassing.
Seriously rental prices in Brisbane are mind boggling high, if you want to spend less than $200 EVEN in the suburbs you would have more luck finding a winning lotto ticket .
Good luck. |

I think you need to do a little bit of research before you move here you be hard pressed getting a house through the dept of housing near the CBD for that and the wait for dept houses is huge. There are plenty of good schools in brisbane but if all you can afford is a place for $200 your gunna be in a s**t area so the school isn't gunna be that great. SORRY |

That close to the city, you would be pushing to get a 2 bedroom place for under $350 pw. To get somewhere under $200 that would accomodate 6 people, you'd be looking at a shed or hovel at least an hour from the CBD (probably further) and it would be in an undesirable area.
I think you'll need to rethink your budget. |

Ok so don't listen to the person that said cleveland - it is not cheap at all - your best bet is to go on realestate.com.au and look for a house there, something close to the cbd instead of around the $200 mark would more likely be around the $600-700 mark, brisbane isn't exactly cheap at the moment because of the ever increasing mortgage rises and what not, add on that the cost of petrol and yeah. Where I live - south east brisbane it's pretty expensive - for a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house your looking at around $400 easy. Overall I would say look around logan for the cheapest, it's an hour from the cbd but you'll be saving on rent |

For $200 per week a good caravan park is your best bet.Even if you pick bad suburbs you will not be able to get much for $200.I live near Ipswich in a 4 bedroom house for $290.Ipswich is at least 40 minutes away from the city.It is not considered a particularly good suburb at all.Probably the cheapest option is to move out to an outer suburb area and rent a town house with at least 3 bedrooms. |

How about getting into the burbs a bit? Cleveland is a lovely suburb on the seaside with great schools, cleveland primary and cleveland high, only half hour drive to city, an hour on public transport, and its very family oriented place. Other than cleveland, I would say somewhere on the cleveland train line, like Lota, or Thorneside or Wynnum or Manly! Check out those suburbs on realestate.com.au.
Happy Hunting! |

you could go out to pinkenba, absoulute shithole but you can camp in this park there by a real seedy creek, over the road from a tity bar and spend the $200 on piss to wipe away the memory of how bad it is living there |
