Who did you learn to drive from? Were they good? |
I'm trying to find a driving instructor in Adelaide. But I don't see many adverts on driving instructors only schools.
But I heard from someone the private instructors are cheaper.
So i was wondeirng if anyone tell me their instructors details and how many lessons they had before they go their P's and how much it cost.
thanks~~ |

Am currently using a driving instructor called Anton, from Drive Safe Driving School. He has told me that if you want to get your P's through the log book system, then usually it is about 10 - 14 lessons (but if you are really good, and pick things up really quickly it can be done in about 7). If you are planning on doing it the old fashioned way (sitting for the test) he recommends a minimum of 4 lessons. I had my 4th lesson today, and the next one he is going to do an "assessment" on me (similar to what I will go through in the test) to see how I would go, and then hopefully will sit the test soon after. If you can have lessons fairly close together, it is much better (keeps it all fresh in your mind!). He charges $70 for 1.5 hours, which i think is about standard these days. I guess it also depends on which part of Adelaide you live in. He is in the north eastern suburbs.
Good luck, I know what you are going through! |

Professional driving lessons can be costly no matter who you go with. I was told that on average, you'll probably need around eight to ten lessons before you obtain your P's. My suggestion would be to learn with your parents or mates (if they are fully licenced) for a while, so that by the time you're ready for professional lessons, you may only need five or six before your test.
p.s. I found the best time to practise was on Sunday's around the industrial areas (i.e. Lonsdale, Ottoway etc.). There's very little traffic, so you can avoid other cars when you're first starting out. Oh, and the name of the driving school i went with was Elite Driving (based in Coromandel Valley). They had newish cars and the costs were reasonable. |

i'm currently learning to drive from my dad. he's ok at teaching but can sometimes get impatient when i make poor judgements on the road (i still fear roundabouts!)
i think a good way to learn how to drive is to start with someone you know (relative, family friend etc) - then when you know the basics of everything you can get an instructor for a couple of lessons (so they can help you refine your driving and give some additional tips) before you finally go for your P's.
an effective way of finding a good instructor is to ask around with your friends because they will know ones which are in your area and they will also be able to tell you how good/bad they are as well. many private instructors rely on word of mouth to advertise themselves so that is probably why it is difficult to find adverts. |

Driving schools HAVE driving instructors.......... |
|

what u talkin' bout?
|
I learned to drive in the U.S. which is totally 'different' driving from Australia. Other side of the road. Rules are totally different also. I'll throw in a familar restaurant phrase. "Australians rule". HAHA I learned from my brother-in-law and a bit from my brother. Both very good instructors indeed! |
