Who has been on holiday to Australia?

I would like to go on holiday to Australia. Has anyone been? If so, is it nice and is there things for kids to do?
And what is it like for the hotels?

Thanks very much

Australia is a great place and has lots of stuff for the whole family. And you can stay somewhere decent you just need to find it.

Just plan your visit accordingt the time of year, theres no point going to QLD in winter, it't too cold. And no point in summer, it's packed.

Just remember it can be unsafe wildlife wise if you don't give the animals their space.

I live here and it's just normal.

Well to be, it's just the usual thing to live here. Yeah it's pretty nice, I mean there are other countries that are 'nicer' like France, Switzerland, etc, and other countries that probably wouldn't be as nice such as south Africa and the USA.

but Australia is pretty good. Lots to do for the kids, it is an entire country afterall. Yes we have lots of hotels as well.

I siggest you get a lonely planet travel guide on Australia.

I'll just say that I have been on holiday in Australia all my life!! Born and raised a proud Aussie! I don't plan to live anywhere else, best country in the world!! Don't come for a holiday, come over to live!! Come to Brisbane! / Gold Coast, lots of theme parks for kids. Hotels can be found pretty much anywhere within 100km of a capital city, usually pretty affordable too.

I lived their for ten years. its amazing. great for kids (I was a child when I lived there) the vastness of the outdoors, the wildlife is beautiful. You'll probably find you wont want to return to your home country.

The people are so friendly, and although sydney and melbourne can be expensive, the gold coast has so much to offer.

GO!

Just came back after being there for 3 months. It's too hot in my opinion & crazy that so many places don't have air conditioning.

I would recommend going to Byron Bay in Northern NSW, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Great Barrier Reef, some of the islands like Moreton Island or Kangaroo Island, etc. And the Great Ocean Road in Victoria is a must see. I personally did not like Western Australia, Perth, etc. It's not worth paying all that money to go to that side as there is not much there & I found the people in Perth awful & thought it was old fashioned.

We had a years holiday there and toured the whole country. The hotels/motels are all of a good standard, and the old fashioned hotels are excellent value for money.
As for kids, short of snow sports, there is everything you can possibly imagine to do available. Wonderful place.

I went travelling around Australia in 07 and it's a great place! there is loads to do as it's such an outdoor activity type of place and the weather and people are great.
I would recommend that you buy a book called 'Rough Guide to Australia' or that kind of thing. You can normally get them from waterstones or Ebay.
It's a great book and tells you about what to do in each area and where to stay from cheap to expensive.

I would recommend you hiring a camping van and travelling a bit. It has so many beautiful (and free) campsites and you get to see the real Australia.

The Gold Coast area is heavily geared towards families/kids with theme parks and heaps of other activities to do, so I suggest you go there. Also Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns have plenty to do for kids and their parents. Only visit Cairns in our winter, as it is cyclone season and very hot and humid in our summer. The Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne are best in our spring or autumn.

Some of the Whitsunday Islands are good for kids too, particularly Hamilton Island and Daydream Island.

Yes a couple of times, plenty to do with the kids, great hotels, it would have been interesting to know where you are going? (what part) and what time of year? but you can always go on to the Australian yahoo site ans ask questions there. happy holidays.

went there last year to Brisbane the gold coast and Sidney loads to do for all ages the hotels are excellent you have nothing to worry about it is a great country i flew with singapore airlines and gave myself a three day stop over in singapore the only extra cost was the hotel which was excellent and it is very safe there and very clean as well as plenty to do for kids would recommend you do the same if time and funds allow

Elizabeth
Yes, we have hotels, motels etc of world standard but there is also economy accommodation avaliable.
I doubt your family will have time to be bored while here.
There are things for the kids where ever you go.
We have children to keep occupied too.

There is no need to go specifically to the Yahoo Answers Australia site.
I'm on Yahoo Australia and your question has appeared here.
If I ask a question it will also appear on the US, British, Canadian etc sites.
After all this is the World Wide Web.
Also our winter in Queensland is approximately the same as Summer in the UK.

Have a great holiday.

I live in Australia. But have been on holidays to different parts. I find it awesome. There are so many places to visit, all sorts of different things depending on what you like to do as a family. The people are friendly and it's not too expensive either, depends where you go and what you do of course, but if you look around for deals you can find reasonably good hotels very cheaply.
