Ive been to 4 states in Australia
Sydney
Adelaide
Melbourne
Perth
Of the four, my favourite state is Adelaide. I found it very beautiful because of the hills. yeah the hills are alive with sound of music hehhe NOT. the hills are alive with animals.
Its very scenic. On my bus trip to kangaroo island, one hill has cows, then the another hill has sheeps, then another hill has sheep and cows, then a grassland full of colourful birds, vineyards with olives, grapes , grasslands with big rolls of hay, grasslands with kangaroos and wallabies. I TOTALLY LOVE IT. The nature is its selling point. Only the hotels are very expensive there.
Sydney is more into skyscrapers and architecture. Yep, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are a major draw including the Taronga Zoo but what I dont like really are the attitude of Sydneysiders. We have encountered a number of unfriendly people there.
Perthians are totally opposite of Sydneysiders. Perth people are friendly and more young people live here as opposed to greying Sydneysiders. You have to go to Rottnest Island to get to see the lovely Quokkas and Fremantle for its beautiful climate. I love cycling In Rottnest Island.
Melbourne is a very modern city. I got to eat at a cheap buffet in one Hotel with casino there. Its also full of young people and there are more reasonable priced accommodations there. People are also friendly and its easy to go around. Its very multicultural at this side and its fun to eat too. |

Australia is the coolest place in the world. Sure the typical place like Sydney & the great barrier reef are nice but to get a real feel for Australia you need to take a trip to the Australian Outback. That is where you will get a true Aussie experience! There is so much to see! |

Very beautiful place with private quiet people. But people in general are very polite and gentle unlike RUDE Americans~! LOL. True.....You would love it over there. But things are much more expensive. Like at restaurant portion size is smaller (normal), and you have to pay for refills on drinks, etc. Good fo health~! that is the way it should be. |

PS:They don`t like when you are loud,Chewing Gum,Or Loud Music. So just work around those little problems |

I'm a bit biased, I live in Adelaide Thanks to BEARYCUTE she has described Adelaide beautifully, we are known as a bit slow here, but we like to let people think that because it keeps everybody away from our un spoilt State. I have been to many states in 0zz and always love to come home to little old Adelaide!
There's something special here. ♥ |

I backpacked Aus in 2003 and liked it so much i stayed!
Every backpacker travels the east coast Carins to Melbourne, so you'll spend your time with lots of English people, and everyone does the same trips and tours like Whitsundays, Frasier Island, Gold Coast - theme parks, etc.
Try and visit W.A. less backpackers and there are some great tours going north and south of Perth,
also Adelaide in S.A. there is Kangaroo Island, and then travel up to Alice Springs and Darwin.
Really i advise you to see more then just the East Coast, it's lovely but what EVERYONE does. |

Australia is am awesome place to visit. All the states and territories are very different to each other. They all have their own cultures and ways of doing things. Adelaide, Hobart & Perth are alot quietier than Sydney, Melbourne or Perth with not as much traffic and life tends to move a little slower. Brisband offers all the theme parks such as Movie World, Sea World, Dream World, etc. Cairns is an awesome place to visit if your looking to do cheap tours of the great barrier reef or snorkling. Give Townsville a miss it's too overpriced and offers a smaller amount of the things that Cairns does. The capital city of Australia is Canberra. If you like to look at political & historical things such as embassies, war memorials, parliament house etc then this is the place to go. Sydney is world famous for the land marks but very very expensive. Adelaide is beautiful and the place to go if your looking to do a wine tour etc. For great discount shopping on designer labels head to Melbourne. A big tip though if you want to see kangaroos, koala's etc head to one of the zoo's or wild life sanctury's. You can pat them, feed them or get your photo taken with them. If you head to the outback to find them, you'd be very disappointed as they are wild and few and far between. Also the outback is very dangerous as it's red dirt roads with 2 days drive between some towns. It's like being in the desert, very hot and no where to stop. If your going to visit the outback, make sure that you go on a tour bus or part of a tour group. If going on your own, make sure that you have gallons and gallons of petrol and drinking water as there is absolutely nothing out in the bush if you break down and mobile phones don't work out there. You need to have a specialised phone which works in the bush. Hope this helps a little bit and that you have a great holiday. |
