Helen Clark is the Prime Minister of New Zealand - elected elected on 27 November 1999

I'm not sure what rulers the New Zealanders use, but if they are anything like Australians the primary school kids will have wooden ones, while some older children may have stainless steel ones. There will be plastic ones in several colours as well as transparent too, I expect.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Head of State. The Head of Government is the Prime Minister, Ms. Helen Clarke.

Helen Clark is the PM but like Australia it has a little union jack on it's flag so the Queen is kinda the ruler.

Prime Minister Helen Clarke. They probably have a Governor-General too- not sure though.
You might try posting in the New Zealand section instead of Australia to get more information.

Elizabeth
I don't know if Helen Clarke considers herself the ruler of NZ, but she is the Prime Minister.

This is not an Australian question, maybe you should try the New Zealand Section of Travel for NZ questions.

I think if you asked Helen Clark (no 'e') this she would definitely say SHE was the ruler!

But, as above, the Queen is the Head of State and the Prime Minister, Helen Clark, is the Head of Government. The Governor - General, Anand Satyanand is the representative of the Queen in NZ but the role is primarily a figurehead type role. But government house is a lovely residence and has lots of pretty artwork and stuff in it :)
