I love Australia because it is one of the most beautiful places on this earth with such a vast diversity of landscapes, animals, people and culture. The people are easy going, welcoming and have a great sense of humor.

I love our sense of humour the wonderful people that live here and I love the fact that it takes me not even 5 minutes to get to the beach.
I love the fact that my children and grandchildren will get to grow up here and be as proud to be Aussies as I am.

I love Australia, for so many and varied reasons.
We, Australians, are so very fortunate to be able to live in this wonderful land and call it home.

Zucchinisinratatouille in your profile you say you are a teacher of English.
From reading Yahoo!7Answers I know you are a proud Australian.
I thought I'd point out that Wikipedia has lead you astray.
The quote of "My Country" by Dorothea MacKellar is incorrect.
One example is, "ragged mountain ranges" not rugged.
Sorry, if I sound pedantic but I know that poem inside out and the mistakes were too obvious to me to let pass.

My Country
by Dorothea MacKellar

The love of field and coppice,
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins;
Strong love of grey-blue distance
Brown streams and soft dim skies -
I know but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror-
This wide brown land for me.

The stark white ring-barked forests,
All tragic to the moon,
The saphirre misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon,
Green tangle of the brushes
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops,
And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When sick at heart around us
We watch the cattle die -
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze

An opal hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land-
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand -
Though earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

I Love Australia because the Country itself and the people are as one. It is beautiful, Vast, Frightening and sometimes dangerous due to the reptiles and dry hot climate of the Bush.
I work overseas and return here after 6 weeks away. When I look out of the aeroplanes window and see that huge coastline, It is a feeling that is hard to relate to in words. I have often travelled beside English people in the plane, coming for a visit or to live. They can't believe the size of the western coastline. They just stare out the window and keep muttering "Hell, Bloody Hell".

I love Australia, because it's my home. There are many other beautiful countries in the world, but this one gave birth to me.

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains,
Of rugged mountain ranges, of drought and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea,
Her beauty and her terror, the wide, brown land for me!"
- Dorothea MacKellar.

I love it caus its me! without aus I wouldent be me!lol. Its always sunny, great storms, green grass, awsome people and the best damn fun in the world! I love it that much that i allmost cry. I LOVE AUS!. People think of australia thats a place where u get off the plane, stand on desert and kangaroos hop around them. sooo wrong!. We have big cities and houses and people that are just so cool, genuine and nice. No such thing as tipping..... what you make is urs, never ending booze and happyness!. I LOVE AUSTRA-LIA!

Came to Australia from UK in 1973 and love it. Before '73 had been to a number of countries and had never felt homesick but when I went back to UK in '90, for three weeks I learnt what homesick meant and have no intention to leave Ozz again. The furthest I want to go from Melbourne, is Broome which always looks so exotic.
In spite of the efforts of certain people Australia remains a fairly egalitarian society, with a wonderfully cosmopolitan population and opportunities for anybody willing to make the effort. I take great pride in my grandchildren who were all born here.
Can anybody beat the smell you get in a eucalyptus forest?
Which other country produces, per capita, so many great sports people?

I love Australia because of the diversity. I grew up on the East coast, and I was a ten minute drive from a huge, white beach.....(one of dozens) and 40 minutes drive in the other direction was a mammoth big rainforest with freezing waterfalls and never ending ferns. Two hours north, I could hop on a boat and cruise through the Whitsunday Islands, which are so, so beautiful. Sydney "swaggers like a supermodel on the international stage" as the Lonely Planet guide puts it. I've lived in Europe for five years, and now Sydney is my home, and I'm floored by how beautiful it is. I think I've travelled well in 34 countries, and (I know I'm biased) - but Australia is one of the most friendly and aesthetically GORGEOUS.

It also has Allen's lollies, pies with mushy peas, meat raffles, Tim Tams, more sunshine than you could possibly ever want, beaches like I've never seen, Hogs Breath, Kath and Kim and Glen McGrath.

That's why I love Australia.

Like everywhere else on earth, it has its' greatness and it's worst.

Fortunately, it is so widely diverse, the extremes all meld away!
