Who loves vegemite....?

I heard yesterday that are axing Vegemite productions.

They said it has too high levels of salt. I mean how much do we all use? Half a teaspoon. It's ridiculous.

I love nothing more then warm toast with the smallest smudge of vegemite for breakfast.

Marmite's, just not the same.. Yuk.

There is absolutely no way that vegemite would ever be permanently removed from the supermarket shelves....there would be such a consumer backlash against anybody who tried to have it banned.

We grow up with vegemite, I even gave it to my daughter when she was a baby and she is still loving it 22 years later.

You are totally right when you say marmite is nothing like vegemite....nothing else comes close although, because we do grow up with it, we are used to it. Explains why people overseas cant handle the stuff and prefer sugary jams instead.

Enjoy your vegemite, its not going anywhere.

The deputy prime minister has promised this won't happen! Anyway, love vegemite, always have!

I'm an Aussie and I absolutely LOVE IT

Best ways to have it are:
With cheese on crackers
On toast with a fried egg on top

Sabine

Carly
I love vegemite! I always have.
I have it every day for breakfast :)

They can't get rid of vegemite. Thats stupid! There are so many more bad things in the world they could get rid of. Idiots.

I love it and I use to work in a canteen and the kids favourite play lunch was always half a vegemite roll just like when we were kids.

Me!! I'm a happy little vegemite, as bright as bright can be!! There's nothing like hot toast with a sudge of vegemite on it in the morning! Yum yum!! I agree with all you said i think they are ridiculous telling us what we can and can't eat!! What happened to personal choice and taking responsibility. Besides it has a very high amount of Vitamin B or something anyway... I think it's vitamin B, could be wrong have been before.

I think vegemite is gross, but the rest of my family love it. It's an aussie icon so I definently don't want it to be banned. It's always fun to tell people from overseas to eat a spoon of it rather just i little bit on toast. I don't think anyone likes a whole dollop of it by itself.

Elizabeth
I like it occasionally but I don't love it.

What you heard is only scare mongering by the media, the taskforce on obesity only considered making this one of their recommendations.

No-one has confirmed that this will ever occur, in fact quite the opposite.

It's 'ok' in small doses. My toddler likes it on his toast each morning, but I give him very little.

I also heard that about the government.

Next they will be taking unbleached Toilet Paper off us as it causes cancer !

I love Vegemite. I actually hadn't heard this. I like mine on english muffins or crumpets.

For those who are talking about Marmite, we have Marmite and Promite here as well in Australia, but it just doesn't quite taste the same. Someone else tried making Mighty mite as well.

I don't like Vegemite, haha I'm sorry.

But they want to ban vegemite and still allow people to smoke? What kind of world do we live in?

izzie SKATE
i never tried it but i heard it was good
vegemite is banned in some places over here in US
what a shame for me :[

James
I've known the word vegemite all of my life thanks to Men at Work, but I still have no idea what the stuff is.

I hear it's gross...but if enough people eat it, then maybe they will keep it around.

Im Australian, and i can't stand it. It makes me gag and want to puke. It tastes so bitter and salty. But a lot of my friends like it so i guess it must taste nice to a lot of people.

yrez
