Why are Australians so awesome?

I've been wondering this for a while now. Their accents, their animals, etc. This is one of life's mysteries, but why are Australians so awesome?

Aussies are awesome because they do not take themselves seriously. We enjoy life in a great country. We love our country but do not make a big deal about it unless it has to do with sports.

The answer is 42 (to the ultimate question of life the universe and everything. in this case its under section 47b - mostly harmless, except for the bits than will kill you quite dead).

Note: more criminals were transported to the United States than ever ended up in Australia. South Australians might take huge offence also at the criminals comment since theirs was the only privately funded and completely free colony on the continent. Note also that Western Australia was never a part of New South Wales and also started as a free colony. A small group of convicts was eventually transported there due to a severe labour shortage. Lets not also mention that most of those convicts only crime was being poor or affiliated with the wrong politics. Survival is not a crime in today's books.

792. We're awesome just because we are.

HAH! i knew there would be people making convict comments, like one answerer above. Geez, times change people. Its 2008, we have people from all over the world. Every country has their criminals, it was just unfortunate that Australia has a history of being a place where convicts were put.... Goes to show how many british criminals there are.

Thanks cc I am a South Australian - wasn't born here but proud to say that I am. South Aussies take offence when people think that all of Aus are criminals.

We have a good country - everywhere is good to live and visit. We are cosmopolitan - we love to talk to others about their country and we know about not only our country but a lot of others in the world.

It is the beaches, with the amount of beaches it is not hard to relax if you want to. It is like the people of the carribean are relaxed and friendly, it is having sunshine and beaches, and the ability to have so much area to get away into. An the tradiational Aussie Sickie,a day you take off sick because it is too nice to work and go to the beach or to the sports, or getting lost off the beaten path.

clearly you have never been to our country.
