People say that England, or the UK, is really regressing quickly in every aspect. The politics, laws, taxes, culture, society, its people, immigration, etc. Many learned and decent English people are fed up. That's a whole different topic, but many people know what the situation is in England today. I'm not surprised that English people would immigrate to Australia and choose Australia as their country of choice, because Australia is very British in a sense. Not just the ties with England, but culturally and ethnically as well. Australia and New Zealand are the only commonwealth and former British colonies today that are almost like they are another province of the UK (British identity and feel very well preserved) and are very very similar to Britain in all aspects. Except the weather. However, Australia is still its own country and feeling.

Oh, please continue letting them in! My wife and I left England because we were looking for a place with better quality of life. That's the most common reason to leave England today, and what we mean by it is this:
Less crime, better weather, bigger houses, less traffic, shorter and more comfortable commuting to work.

The English have always moved here for many reasons . I have lived in England and it was wonderful. They have some amazing countryside and very historical and interesting. I'm not English but they are in recession so more and more want to come here . They like the idea of outdoor living and sunshine. We make it quite hard for them to get residency so unless they have the skills we need or plenty of money to boost our economy or family reasons then we keep them out.

The living conditions here are better. The Brits are blown away by the size of our houses and our yards. People in the US have bigger houses again.

well when we moved here from england it waas because the weather is sooooo much better, its sunny more than 40% of the year, everything is cheaper (eg, eating at a restaurant would cost about $100 here for three people at a fairly decent restaurant, when mum, dad and their old friend went out for dinner in england last year when we were there it was the equivalent of $100 each) but the same quality, there are generally more opportunities in Australia for people with training. Australia just has a better and friendlier vibe in general. i do love this country, and im pretty sure amny people would rather live here than england.

oh, and yes ofcourse the houses and gardens and properties in general are bigger (but ofcourse cheaper) here than in england. and places are generally more child friendly aswell.

You've obviously not been to England and by letting them in, you dilute the criminal genes.

Australia has great weather and it's crowded in Europe. It's not as expensive as the UK. I read somewhere that the Australian government told it's people to do their duty and have more babies. Apparently, they need to expand their population.

Even a lot of Americans are coming. I had two teachers that were American in my school.

Is Australia not in recession too? Don't believe the $hit perpetuated by the media that Britain is going to the dogs, that's what the British media do. I love England, and there are a lot more opportunities for creative people here than in Oz.
