Most of those coming to Australia now only want to live in the cities - because that's where the Centrelink offices are!
They don't want to go to the bush - where the work & jobs are. |

Maybe it is where you live but there are plenty of country towns with very small populations. It's not overpopulated at all! |

Are you kidding? Tourism Australia airs commercials abroad very often too, telling us all how great Australia is... they're right too! |

Shhhhhhhhhhhh! It's a secret campaign of the ATF (Australian Tourism Forces), an underground task force of the Australian government. You're right to post your question in the travel section of YA. The ATF is quite successful in its hidden efforts to lure innocent tourists to Australia, a country that is almost empty (in regards of human settlement) - if you don't consider the 15 biggest metropolitan areas where 70% of 21 million Aussies live, and 57% of them are living in just these 5 cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
______________________
Without irony: Tourism is but mining the most important "industry" in Australia. If you really want to kick tourists out of Oz you will create high unemployment and financially ruin hundreds of thousands of Aussies. This can't be your intention, I'm sure. |

It is overpopulated in regard to how resources are managed, yes, as someone else has said. Having a large land mass is not the same thing as being able to support a large number of people- look at Antarctica. We don't manage our scarce water well, and the degradation of our thin soil is shocking. The person who complained about indigenous people in NT getting many services wants to look at the NEED and also at the relative proportion of aboriginal people in NT- seems likely they'd have more services since there are more of them. Duh. |

Over populated? Its Huge! and has a massive skills shortage, hence the reason it gives working visa's to so many people. |

What a great Idea ~~ |

It's getting worse by the minute. Not from immigration, but from how we manage our resources. But it's still good. |

Depends on which part of Australia you're talking about. The Northern Territory can do with more. There's lots of incentive to work here if you can stand the heat and the abundant social problems stemming from indigeneous needs. Lots of work for social or community services workers in the NT but mind you, you'll soon feel that they mainly exist to meet the needs of indigeneous needs you'll find since it makes 90% of the social problems. You'll find the focus is indigeneous needs. If you have gifted or normal and well-adjusted children don't bring them here - there are no resources good enough to groom them here unless you decide to start a service for that category of people. Then you'll probably be labelled racist. |
