Yellow school buses are a US system. We are a different country so therefore different systems.
Some schools do have their own buses. Some schools are on local government bus routes or train stations.
Each school is different - check out what is on offer. As already said a lot of kids walk to school. |

In South Australia they do have yellow school buses in rural areas. Good heavens, we are not exactly the same as USA. Kids get to school by various means, as has been said. |

Maybe not but we have KFC , Maccas, Burger King , Crispy Creme , Starbucks blah blah & if it wasn't for this current financial crisis maybe US companies would still be taking over our household brands ad nauseum....
Buses for school kids are available...if you don't like the colour , sorry ! |

I don't see why each country in the world should be the same or follow any other particular country. This is Australia and NOT the US.
The buses students catch are the public buses others catch. Some are chartered by schools from private bus companies.
However, some schools offer mini bus services which transport students to and from their homes.
Students here walk, catch the train or bus or get dropped off by car. |

We don't have dedicated school buses because the buses are then used for the general public while the kids are at school. |

it depends on the school, a lot of private schools have their own buses but they are usually white. buses can not be used for transporting children after they reach 20 years of age is another factor relating to it as well. Another thing buses in Queensland must be painted with invisible paint because motorists don't seem to see them! |

Most of the time it is a company that is hired by the local or state government to provide transport for the kids as it is cheaper then the school owning, running and fixing their very own fleet of buses.
Privet school that charge people $2000 dollars or more per term might be able to afford to have their own buses but most state school can't afford that. |

No we don't have them so most kids are either taken by their parents or go by public transport such as trains or buses, some of them walk or bike to school. There are some schools mainly private schools that do provide pick up services. |

"How do kids get to school then?"
1. some schools have buses provided by either private bus companies or the State government, depends on the school.
2. use the local bus services
3. some children ride bikes
4. many children walk, with or without parents
5. parents drive their children to and from school
If you're living within the zone for a particular school, then options 3 and 4 are the most sensible. |
