We are quite the lucky country.
We live in a stable democracy.
We are an island nation so we are safe from the outside world.
We are friendly and multi-cultural.
We have low crime.
We have a stable economy with a massive mining boom.
I would not want to live any where else in the world.
Australia <3 |

Yes I agree but I never will understand how somebody knows that this is the best country in the world to live in! To truly know that you would have had to live in every country in the world. lol |

There is so much opportunity here, natural beauty, and we are catching up to the modern world with food, buildings, medicine, culture. I have a mate who has travelled to over 50 countries multiple times, and it surprises me when he comments frequently, "that was the best ....... meal I have ever had. And he has had the means to eat and live well, includung fly the Concord when in service from London to New york. Our immigration is strict fo a very good reason...everyone wants to live in the land of beauty and opportunity.... |

This is the second time I've come to Australia to live temporarily and I can't say that it is the 'best' place in the world to live.
Australia is the most urbanised country in the world. Even though it's promoted with the country stock man in many touristy magazines - there are very few people who live in the 'outback'.
The aboriginal community is promoted only for tourists-but Australia has massive race relation issues with their native siblings! It was only in the late 60's and 70's that aboriginies were no longer hunted 'for sport'.
Australia is currently in the worst drought in 100 odd years.
Massive water restrictions.
Australia has the most poisonous creatures in the world.
Australia's strategic reality is that it lies just to the south of the largest muslim population in the world outside of the middle east - and Indonesia has great political and environmental instability which could very much affect Australia.
Whilst there are lots of things going FOR Australia; I tend to think there are just as many things against it. It's a wonderful place to visit - but I wouldn't make a permanent move here. |

I sure liked Australia when I visited especially how nice the people were and how wonderful the women were. America is still the most unbelievable place on the planet. I love high mountains and wilderness though. Australia is a bit too dry for my taste. Must be wonderful to sit under a coolabah tree in some northern billabong though. |

I think you may be almost right, but I think NZ takes a close lead over Australia. |
