The Cane Toad is seen as a pest in Australia.

They breed like crazy and have a harmful affect our wildlife and other native Australian species of frog.

Their babies develop faster than many Australian frogs so they can out-compete our frogs for food.

They contain toxins that are deadly poisonous to other animals that eat them. Even fish who eat the 'toadpoles' will die.

Cane Toads and their toadpoles seem to be resistant to some herbicides which would normally kill frogs and tadpoles.

There's just too many of them! Australia is being overrun by cane toads and whats worse, scientists are yet to come up with a way to control this pest!

rugratshd
it is extremely poisonous, has no natural predators, breeds profically and is seriously damaging the indigineous wildlife

Damo
The TOAD! was actually introduced into Australia to eradicate the cane farmers night mare of a bug eating their cane and ruining their harvest... This was meant to be their only purpose, but since its introduction they seem to multiply worse then rabbits, now are killing more then just cane bug...

Its a big deal now cos it a pest... 7 iron to the head helps get rid of em :)

Alot of people do a toad bust at night time and this is where they go out side with a torch and either collect them and put them in a plastic bag then freeze them or you can buy what they call detol and spray them with it and that also kills them. Then on rare occasions a group of people get together and do a toad bust on a park or water way, to try and stop the cane toad from taking over.

The cane toad, Bufo marinus, was introduced to Australia by the sugar cane industry to control two pests of sugar cane, the grey backed cane beetle and the frenchie beetle.
The cane toad ate beetles when they were available, but as a biological control agent, it had no impact at all. Within 5 years an effective insecticidal spray became available.

Cane toads have proven themselves to be one of Australia's worst environmental disasters. Since 1935, they have spread across most of Queensland, they are almost entirely across the Northern Territory (only 75 km from the WA border) including the world-reknowned wetlands of Kakadu.

Toads are responsible for the reduction of many species of Australian wildlife.

The canetoad is a big deal to me when I go outside at night and step on a bugger of one and it's bigger than my foot!

They are a pest and they all need to be killed off.

As user 'Kevin' saids a cricket bat works well, but golf clubs work even better!

Catherine
Its a pest. Its killing alot of plants and animals that have eaten them.. its poisonous. introduced. and no predators for it. and they are multiplying..

There's so many of them because they breed like rabbits, we have no use for them and they destroy the wildlife and environment.
They are a pest and all Aussies are encouraged to whack 'em with a cricket bat when we find some. :)

newfy_newfy
if you see one find a thick bamboo cane and whack it over the toads head ,they are not native and are poisonousness and killing native species and multiplying too fast
