Why is there no sympahy an Australia for Corby and the Bali 9?

Because they chose to do what they did and were caught. Australians don't like cry babies.

The death penalty may be harsh but it is the law in Indonesia.
Everyone knows that if you commit a crime, especially drug trafficking, you could end up with that punishment.

Because the Corby's are Australia's version of white trash. Her father was an organised large scale dope grower, her brother is a dope dealer... and has been busted. Her mother, yecchhhhh!!!! They started a rumour about plane baggage handlers transporting dope internationally in people's luggage, a rumour that wasn't true and cost the government an insane amount of money investigating the claims. Her sister Mercedes lives in Bali and Chapelle was accused of bringing in a large amount of dope in her boogie board bag. The chances of her actually being innocent are pretty damn slim....

The Bali 9 is a bit of a tragic story... yes, some of them were coerced into it.. but they had a ludicrous amount of heroin on them. They say threats were made against their families, etc - but hey, one phone call to the police could maybe have sorted that out. You just don't strap that much heroin to your body and then fly to a country with a 0 tolerance policy. Maybe they'll eventually get some leniency though - don't know.

You do the Crime you do the Time, however harsh that is ,they made their decisions , if you don't do anything illegal you will not have to worry about prison or it's terms ,easy as that.

I dont understand how you could try and abolish the Death penalty. Isnt it up to a countries government to decide the laws and punishments of their country!

Saying that, everyone knows that if you break the law then u must accept the consequences, whether they seem to be Harsh. I beleive that they got exactly what was coming to them. They took the drugs into bali, and they should be punished. I also don't believe the Aus government should bring them back to aus, to serve their sentence.

The Bali 9 and Corby are all guilty. All knew what the penalties were in Indonesia for carrying drugs and all decided to take the chance. You do the crime - you do the time even when the 'time' is execution.

And I'm completely against any prisoner exchange for any of them. They committed their crimes in another country and that's where they should serve their sentences.

The drugs that they smuggle destroy peoples lives. Why should we feel sorry for those whose actions destroy others? We should have compassion for the victims of crime rather than the perpetrators. That could be the reason that most people do not sympathise.

Corby comes from a criminal family, she knew what was going on and even now in jail she gets let out for lunch's and beauty appointments, hell her eyebrows look better then mine.

The Bali 9 members that have been sentenced to death are the ring leaders. I don't think we should let them off so easily, make them do the time like the others.

No don't bring them back here, they cut off all links to Australia as soon as they committed their crimes as far as I'm concerned.
