Will my hair straighteners work in Australia?

I have big fat GHDs which I adore and cannot live without. I am travelling to Thailand for ten days, Australia for 3 minths and New Zealand for 2 years? Will my straighteners work in all or any of these countries because when I went to Mexico and Dominican Republic the power wasnt strong enough fo them.
Thanks :)

The power will definitely be strong enough in Aus and NZ (we have GHDs here as well), not sure about Thailand it might depend on where you are staying.

you may need an adaptor plug

Somewhere on the things there will be a sticker telling you what voltage the things are designed for. If it says 240 or 220 they will work OK in Australia if you have a converter for the plug. If it only says 110 volts you will need a power converter as well.

markfrimston
If you hold them upside down you should be fine :o)

if you take the plug off your GHDs it turns into the plug with the two prongs

The voltage in Australia is 220 volts. You can get an adapter to fit the sloping pins and provided you can set the voltage to 220 volts, they will work

Only if you use them upside down

Bethnal Green
It depends on where you are from. But you should take an adaptor with you just in case.

Sophieeee :D
Get one of those adaptor plugs. It will probably be strong enough.

take an adaptor, and remember to plug it in upside down of course lol

izzie
You need a voltage adapter go to a electronics or general merchandise store in travel area,

That girls an indie cindy.
sure just take an adaptor

C.L.B<3L.M.R
you can take part of the plug off your GHDs for when abroad, so see if that works, but i'd take an adaptor aswel just to be safe as different countries have different voltage sources in their plug sockets and if its low they could take forever to heat up.

No , they will actually curl your hair in the opposite direction.

Nickkay
yea. i mean although the mains electricity supply does vary in voltage, your GHD's are hardly gna be using up 200volts!

did you know european PS3's wont work in japan because ours suck up too much power :D

NWO_1984
