why should they , the biggest percentage of white people there are from direct british decendancy, iv'e always found ozzies decent friendly people, you always get a bit of banter about the pommie thing, especially with sport, but dont take it to heart, you will find it a more relaxed life style there, just go with the flow

No, Aussies come from everywhere, people would hardly notice and certainly wouldn't care that you are British. We don't really pay much attention to things like that, everyone's welcome.

Gezzz!!!!!! we don't hate anyone... Australia is the most diverse place on the face of the earth. Just keep your sence of humour and you'll be right.

They are fine. Where did all the white settlers come from to begin with? The British Isles so they are about as Aussie as you are.

The only true Aussies are the indigenous aborigines.

I had a great holiday in Sydney and the surrounding areas and found everyone really nice and friendly. There is rivalry in sports but don't take it too seriously

Not at all!

Adelaide:
The five largest groups of overseas-born were from England (7.3%), Italy (1.9%), Scotland (1.0%), Vietnam (0.9%), and Greece (0.9%)

Perth:
In 2006, the largest ancestry groups in the Perth, Western Australia, metropolitan areas were: English (534,555 or 28.6 per cent), "Australian" (479,174 or 25.6 per cent), Irish (115,384 or 6.2 per cent), Scottish (113,846 or 6.1 per cent), Italian (84,331 or 4.5 per cent) and Chinese (53,390 or 2.9 per cent). There were 3,101 Aboriginals in the city (0.2 per cent).

Perth's population is notable for the high proportion of British-born residents. At the 2006 Census 142,424 British-born Perth residents were counted.

I live in Western Australia and there are so many pommies (hope you don't mind that word) and i have never noticed any thing against the english, only in cricket games or when they are refered to as pommies!

The Silver Foo Dog
If you believe that then why are you coming?

Be yourself and and don't act better then anyone else and you will fit in just fine. Read up on the Australian character just so you know what to do and say at any given time.

funny, isn't it, that the Aussies seem to hate the Brits, and yet, if they stop to think about it, most of them are descendants of Brits, mainly convicts, who were shipped out there many years ago to help to colonise the place!!!
