its only just gone spring so it hasnt been warm for very long, the sun is very harsh in australia nd youd be silly to get out in it too much, wear plenty of sunscreen and a hat. Give it a few months though and youll see heaps of brown bodies walking around shirtless

because the sun kills

skin cancer is common in australia

Queensland has the highest rate of skin cancer in the entire world and most people here are educated to stay out of the sun, or to use high SPF sunscreen and wear hats when they're outside. You would be wise to take our lead. The sun is VERY dangerous here.

Also, we don't think it's very warm here ATM - I'm freezing right now and am going to put a trakkie on as soon as I finish this answer.

For a start Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world and i think the message is finally sinking in to cover up and stay out of the sun.

fruitsalad
Because they have mainly British ancestry with the fair skin that goes with it. They are trying to not die of skin cancer by spending too much time in the sun.

Belta
The education of the QLD population about the effects of the sun would a big reason but also Brisbane does not really have any beaches as it is not strictly on the coast.

lolly
Because skin colour doesn't automatically correlate with the temperature. We are an extremely diverse and multicultural society with all different nationalities and backgrounds, and therefore we have a very diverse genetic makeup.
