no i have to agree that new zealand is one of the best places in the world, crime has increased a bit but still very low compared with other countries and i would not bring up my child in any other city than where i live which is the south island, and as for jobs,it depends if you want to work hard as a new zealander can get a job oversea's just like that since they know we are such hard workers unlike some other countries and at the same time it is also relaxing. border control is not that bad either we just don't want unwanted people in our country, look at America they let let people in there country and look at the war that it created and all over money where our country keeps out of it because we want it to be a safe place

Would love to visit New Zealand and do the "Lord of the Rings" tour. I am a huge fan and the scenery was breathtaking. Some friends have visited and said it is quite beautiful & unspoilt, esp. the South Island.

A lot of people emigrate to NZ for the lifestyle - there is fantastic food and lots of outdoor activities to enjoy. if you have a family the standard of education is high. Unemployment is low so it is usually quite easy to find a job on arrival.

If you are thinking of emigrating to NZ feel free to email me on Jessica.Stooke@Visalogic.net - I have helped many people move to New Zealand and would be happy to do an assessment of your eligibility for a visa.

I hear it is beautiful, and that there are still alot of unspoiled sights.

NO,by what I have seen on New Zealands "Border Patrol" TV program, those customs officers treat visitors like crap. Are the rest of the people like that?

askmechanic
No Thanks
It's really complecated and not many jobs there after migrating.

I used to live in NZ and as everyone said...i'ts a beatiful country...bla,bla,bla. But I felt a bit isolated there. I usd to live in Germany before that and I live in France. My point is If I feel like I've had enough of France it's question of taking a few hours train trip (or 1 hour flight for 40€) and I'm in Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium...you name it. You change the culture, mentality, language, architecture, everything...but in NZ...that's it, you're a bit stuck ( if you aren't an extreme flight enthusiast 25 hours on a plane is a lot...)
Otherwise NZ is great if you like mild winters, outdoors (but close to civilisation)and regarding jobs, well it's not so bad if you really want to find a job (and don't have to end up picking apples as many backpackers do. The first thing when you get there is to go to INLAND REVENUE and apply for a "tax number" which means that you fill up an easy form, give them your address and passport (no question about your visa asked)to copy and they send you your number few days later by post ( even to a camping).
After that you work sometimes people might insist on propre work permit but normaly tax number is enough for them.
