Singularity of Good Fortune

Would you choose to travel on Australia's national airline (Q'tas) after all the recent incidents?

I sure would and have in fact just booked a ticket with them.

The decompression problem was handled very well by an experienced, well trained and very expert pilot. Planes are hugely complex things machines and things do go wrong with them from time to time. It's the pilots and their training that can make the difference and Qantas pilots are the best.

One of the other problems were simply a very good airline with a well trained and careful pilot taking precautions in case something was wrong.

The other was a minor problem, again handled the way you would expect a good pilot for a good airline to handle it.

I simply don't have the same level of confidence in other airlines. My ex-BIL is a captain with one of the best of the Asian airlines and I would never fly with him or with his airline.

Yes I would continue to fly Qantas, in fact I am flying with them on Friday and again on Sunday.
I think the media has a lot to do with reporting these incidents and making them seem worse than they really are. Other airlines experience problems all the time and we do not see them plastered all over the media.
Aside from this Qantas has never actually had a crash in all the years it has been operating. I am confident in them, as these incidents have been minor and no one was hurt.

tuppenybitz
wouldn't fly with any other airline than QANTAS

Jus_us
Yes. Because of the recent incidents... they will be looking really closely at the planes and maintenance. Sounds better than just carrying on doing the same old until something goes wrong. Yes they made mistakes but are not fixing them and looking at all other possibilities.

Yes, I have no problems travelling with Qantas, and have just booked to fly with them later this year.

The problems Qantas have experienced recently actually happen all the time with other airlines. The difference is, these airlines are not the Australian national airline, so the incidents are not well (if ever) publicised here unless it's an air disaster.

Do a websearch on airline incidents/accidents and it will make you very glad we have Qantas - that's if you choose to fly ever again!

haydie
what incidents? anyway, can't live in fear or you will never do anything.

I already am in a few weeks and the news stories scared me a bit ( i hate heights. ie flying! )

But then i figured after all the media attention lately they might even improve their safety checks and measures to avoid another embarassing report?

or maybe im just telling myself that haha

I just flew United and it was terrible. Took me two days to reach my destination and three days for my bags. To be honest, the excitement of an explosive decompression would have gone a long way to explain the nature of a problem than listening to United's lame excuses.

What would have been ideal is if there were a dozen United pilots and attendants standing next to hole when it blew out!

Moonlight Wolf
Its really weird how everything has happend within weeks, so i would still fly with them, but no long trips, like 14 hour flights

and qantas isnt good on serivice or comfort usually, so try virgin, because alot of people have siad good thing about them

We miss you Anset!!

Not, really I would go with a different airline until the accidents sorta settle down?
