Would you rather live in the U.S. or Australia? |
Additional Details BTW: in reply to one of the answers, Australia is "free" too. Americans really do think they're the only free people in the world. Ridiculous.

Australia, no doubts...the US sucks. Full of ignorant, fat, greedy, loud people. -- From an American ex-pat |

I have lived in Australia for all but 3 years of my life (3yrs in the UK). I am comfortable with the lifestyle Australia offers me but I have brothers and sisters in the US who I only found in the last 6 years. I have visited the US on a number of occasions, the last time I stayed for 3 months and I also felt comfortable living there.
At this time I would like to live in America to be closer to my siblings but due to the Immigration laws it is going to be difficult.
Both countries have a lot to offer and the prospect of enjoying another lifestyle is very appealing. |

I was born in Australia and have lived here most of my life. I have lived in both Australia and the USA.
I must say that I would MUCH rather live in the USA. The USA is SOOOOO much better than Australia.
Australia is the lucky country.... if your "lucky" you will make it but the USA is the land of the free.... where you are free to be what you want and not have to rely on "luck".
I am trying to permanantly relocate to the USA at the moment. |

Definetely I would choose Australia as it is not that crowded and espacially there are terrorisim out there. No bomb or suicide bombing hence I would rather for safer place. There are great beaches also htere and the fish of Indian Ocean is more delicious than the Pacific Ocean. On top of that Australia is a lovely country. |

I'm moving from Venezuela because the political situation, with an ape for president, is unbearable. My choices to start a new life were: Canada, Australia, and USA. I decided in favor of Australia for many reasons, including the fact that The Economist's Intelligence unit has placed 5 Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide) among the top 10 most livable cities (Melbourne is on top). In Australia, your money is worth more than it is in the USA, that means that to maintain the same quality of living, you'd have to earn a lot more in the USA than in Australia. And it's definitely a safer country. |

I am an Aussie living in the US, and I am eagerly looking forward to the day I move back home. America is not bad (and not really that different, at least superficially), but Australia is more laid back (at least compared to US east coast, I understand the west is much better), has better weather and is not regarded with the same contempt by the rest of the world. And the people are friendlier and less self-absorbed.
With regard to being free ... apparently it is okay for the US government to lock me up without reason and without permitting any defence. Anyone who thinks this is the freeest country in the world is very poorly informed. |

What's the difference between a Canadian, an American, and an Australian?
Australians have the cooler accent!
What's the definition of a Canadian?
An unarmed American with health-care! |

Australia hands down. It's the people that make all the difference. However, for the sake of shopping, the US is blessed! |

Australia!! Hands down. I like the attitude of Australians (and we are a 'free' country too). Both of the cultures are very different, but I prefer Aussies. Most Americans I have met have been loud, rude, racist and over-confident.
I would prefer to live on the moon, rather than spend time in the US. |

Definitely Australia. I visited for the summer and the people, landscape, culture, etc. were so refreshing. The U.S. just keeps accumulating problems and getting to involved in the affairs of the world. Australians are much more laid back. |

U.S. i don't like the accents of Australians. they annoy me. well, i guess if you were from australia, you would rather live in Australia because the americans accents were annoying. but the U.S is free, there are many climates, and I am more familiar! |
