That is fantastic.
I saw a little clip of that on the news.
Did you see the guys name?

His name is Dave Tree quite an apt name for a koala rescurer.

I found this. Some people just don't get it!
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25042176-1243,00.html

A US gossip website is facing a reader backlash after trying to make fun of firefighter David Tree's rescue of Sam the koala.
In a post about Mr Tree giving his water bottle to the koala he found stumbling through burnt out bushland in the Victoria fires, TMZ.com wrote:

“After battling some of the worst wildfires ever to hit Australia, a firefighter shared his bottled water with a pampered koala on Monday. Afterwards the new friends went to Pilates and dined on sushi.â€

Many readers hit out at the article, “Koala to Firefighter: I Won't Tap That!â€, saying it was an unnecessary and insensitive shot at Victoria’s firefighters and the victims of the fire.

Yes, and the wildlife rescue took that Koala to hospital about 30 mins later, she is in good health in the care of lovely vets etc with all her paws bandaged up. The super human fire fighter who kindly stopped to see if he could help her would normally have had his throat ripped out on a normal day as koalas have huge claws and don't ever go near humans or water. This whole fire thing truly sucks, and I personally, as a mother and an animal lover right now put my hand up to strangle with my bare hands the 'man' (sorry guys) who lit any of these fires. And I haven't met or talked to anybody yet who wouldn't turn a blind eye or help me. May all of you give whatever you can to the Red Cross Australia. We have just had a mass murder, of what looks like 300 innocent people.

this article made me cry, poor little thing

thank god for people like David Tree

the poor bugger was just in a bushfire course it drank water(probably would have preferred a beer) was very hot & dry & 1/2 fried

BUY KOALA PIC: All proceeds from sales go to the CFA (volunteer firefighters where the bushfire's are)

i think the koala knew the fire fighter was there to help - must be an instinctive thing

re tmz.com - what a bunch of tools

Yes I saw that.

Koalas do drink water, but not often. They'd have to be seriously dehydrated. That koala was probably so disorientated, scared, and dehydrated that it'd take water off anyone.

If you contact the RSPCA or a vet in your area you might be able to help animals caught in the bushfires by giving animal food, leads, collars, bridles, and blankets.

Best wishes
