Future Eagles Mummy!!
I read an article some time ago regarding Americans and the basic gist was that the majority of them do not have a passport and have no interest in travelling outside of the USA as there is enough to see and do there!! i asked the question recently in Yahoo and most respondants said they would either love to travel but cannot afford to or have travelled. Only a couple said they didn't want to travel.

when I think of all the people i know, I can't recall anyone who has not travelled overseas at some point apart form my nephews who are all in their late teens early 20's. My parents, who are well into their 60's have just about filled up their second passport!!

Anyway, I have been playing around with google, but cannot find the stat you are looking for. Might have another play tomorrow! Goodnight....

I would be surprised if more than 33% of Aussies over the age of 20 have passports ...
We are so far from places geographically that many people can't afford to travel o'seas....those with families anyway !

i thinks its a lot more, australians travel a lot more than yanks, but seem to learn nothing about where they go. Besides most of them seem to have 2 passports, 'my mothers, sisters, dogs friend once went to england so can i have a passport?'

I don't want to travel overseas, so I don't need one (do I?). I'm quite happy, where I am (in Australia). - less grief!!!

Mel
Not surprising, Americans are only interested in themselves.

I would guess around the 70% mark for over 18s, Australians are big international travelers be in New Zealand, a cruise, Bali or further.

We are also a very multicultural society with many migrants, all of which would need a passport.
