"Ho ho ho" considered offensive in Australia?

What do Australians think about it?
Why am I not suprised it's happening in Australia? I understand more than half of you people are anti-american, but please for the love of God, keep this american tradition alive!
Additional Details
True. I'm glad I live in America

Santa is NOT an AMERICAN tradition....I suggest you hone up on the St. Nicholas story before shooting off things like that. It makes us look rather stupid to the other nationalities on here!

And just because your mom and dad tell you Australia hates America doesn't make it true.

They aren't changing "Ho-Ho" here (unless you're Imus) so don't get all upset!

"Quote" "True. I'm glad I live in America"

and 21 Million Australians + my dog are really, really "Glad" (and happy) you live in america.
PS. Where did you get your figure of HALF from?
in your dreams yank.

HO,HO,HO

This is news to me.
Why would we, Australians, think Ho, Ho, Ho was offensive?

"Ho" meaning whore is an Americanism, it's not commonly used in that sense here in Australia.
I think you have your wires crossed somewhere along the line.

Did you not read the previous question which said the exact opposite of what you've just said?

As for some Aussies disliking Americans, you can probably blame George W Bush for some of that.

if you look back at some other postings the same question is there but saying americans are offended by HO HO HO
why would Aussies be offended? its the yanks that call their prostitutes HO's not Australia

many of you americans must learn that you are not liked in many countries because of your stick up the ars# attitude

professorkdub
I've not heard anything about that being offensive, and I live in Sydney. I suppose it's becuase I have better things to do than try and upset other nationalities on Yahoo...
I am also not anti american.
Anti idiot though, so I can see why you may get a little confused

Why on earth should "ho ho ho" be offensive? What else is Santa Claus supposed to say? I haven't heard that anyone in Australia is offended by it and I live here. If this has anything to do with the illiterate and offensive American custom of changing "whore" to "ho" and using the word to describe women, that is an American problem, not an Australian one. We don't call our women whores and certainly don't use "ho" in that way so there is no need to be offended by "ho ho ho".

Sorry to inform you, but MORE than half of Australians are anti-American, god bless their souls. Try walking down George St. in Sydney spouting your American garbage and you'll see that first hand. Americans are so up themselves they think everyone loves them and gives a damn about what they think. Not true, by a long shot.

We Aussies only hate stupid Americans, like you.

auburn
Well that's it. You have really gone and done it now! I really thought as an Aussie that it was ludicrous for Santa's HO HO HO to be banned, but now you have gone and told me it is American I am going to petition for Santa to have a new saying. Perhaps "Crikey Mate it's flaming Christmas" That way you can keep your 'Ho' all to yourselves.

It was started by some idiot at Weststaff here in Adelaide, south Australia. Don't worry the population here has hounded down that particular person and i am sure Weststaff have lost a few brownie points as a sensiable company (until all this dies down).

I can't think why it's offensive to anyone. Are people really that thin-skinned these days? People like that should just go live in a cave so nothing can offend them, and leave the rest of us reality-based humans alone. What's next?

Country Bumpkin
"Ho Ho Ho" = Merry Christmas or 3 prostitutes :)

Who cares? American's don't celebrate Christmas anymore, anyway. Now, they celebrate the "holidays".

The world has no shortage of idiots, and they have to fill their time with something.

I guess Santa knew they were naughty and had no use for his (shrivelled up) lumps of coal. Merry Christmas (you) Ho, Ho, Ho(s)!!!

burungman123
Yeah, I agree with you. What's the problem with 'HOHOHO' anyway...

Lol! Ya, I read that too!
Must be that a lot of them are ho's! =)
I dunno really...

Yea I read that too...its a bunch of bs. People cant find anything better to do but take offense to everything. Words are only words, they should get over it already.
