Salzburg's pretty but touristy.
Linz isn't that pretty but there aren't too many tourists.
Vienna is the most metropolitan but expensive.
Graz is far away from other Austrian cities but has lots of culture.
And I haven't been to Innsbruck.
I stayed near Linz but only out of practicality as it was where I was working.

Austria has very good scenery Vienna is pretty but as for staying only in winter for the skiing Kitzbuhler in the tyrol.
