Congratulations! That's an awesome opportunity to have! Here are some things about Austria.
*German is the national language of Austria, but many people speak English, especially in large cities such as Vienna and Salzburg.
Slovene, Croatian, and Hungarian are also spoken in certain places because Austria is situated close to those countries.
*Vienna is the capital of Austria, and the German version of Vienna is Wien. This is where the dish Wiener Schnitzel originated from, Wien=Vienna.
*In German Austria is called Österreich. It's pronounced like Oost-ter-rike.
*The Austrian flag has three diagonal stripes, the colors go red, white, and red.
*The currency is the Euro, they are part of the European Union. (EU)
*The calling code for the country is 33.
*The internet ending is at. For example, here in the U.S. everything is .com, or .org but if Google for example in Austria would be Google.at instead of Google.com |

I've never been there so I'm afraid I won't be much help. I know it's a bit colder than America, very mountainous, and very beautiful. The government is pretty far right. The food is supposedly pretty good-also music, culture, etc. They speak mostly German, but some different dialects of it. Most people should speak some English, though. Look it up on Wikipedia for more details! Good luck, congratulations, and have fun:) |
